Well, it was 41 years ago this week. Anyone in attendance? You would have to be about 60 now, as it was in August 1969. One of the three greatest rock festivals ever, along with the Monterey Pop festival in '67 and Altamont in '69. I missed going to Woodstock by one year ( I was only 16 at the time). What a lineup...The Who, Hendrix, CCR, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Ten Years After, Sly & the Family Stone, et al.
Check out these videos. The quality is amazing. Jefferson Airplane performed at about 8:00 Saturday morning! They all look really stoned. Damn, Grace Slick was pretty hot back then. She was only 29 (she's 70 now!). Hendrix closed the show on Monday morning.

I ageee it was one of the 3 greatest US festivals but don't forget especially the Brits had one or two as well--The Isle of Wight Festivals featured the cream of rock (no pun intended): http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/

Indeed, the Isle of Wight festivals were awesome...Hendrix, the Who, etc. Hendrix did an amazing version of 'All Along the Watchtower' at one of them.
Check this out from 1970 (this was his last live performance, as he died three weeks later!)...

The tradition of multi-day all-genre big concert events may have started with Woodstock, but Charlie Daniels Band has kept this flame alive. Starting in 1974 with a 1-day event, the Volunteer Jams continued over the next 3 decades:

In this century, hard to go wrong with Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festivals. The first was in 2004 in Dallas, the other 2 in 2007 and 2010 in Illinois. For list of performers and DVD track listings, see here:

In '69, did you stay for the entire three days? When Hendrix took the stage Monday morning, most of the crowd had already left!

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...John Belushi 'doing' Joe Cocker on SNL...

Belushi also sang the song on SNL along with Joe himself, but apparently that clip is not on YouTube.

Cocker and Belushi
http://www.livevideo.com/video/9B019B8F ... lushi.aspx

I saw Joe Cocker in Jacksonville, FL in 1975. He was already loaded when he came out and proceeded to drink 4 more Heinekens while he sang. At the end of each song he would start to talk and the band would go into the next song.

He knocked the mic stand over twice and a roadie had to run out and stand it back up for him.

Still a good concert though.

Back then, I was a Moody Blues / Jethro Tull junkie:)

It's good to see Tull are still touring. Martin Barre is one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

Brothers GringoTim, El Silencioso and others inspired by JT's wizardry might want to check out a DVD recorded in recent years. It features the earlier music including some rarely played material. The venue: I can't speak on this one but a Solomon Burke DVD from the same outfit was outstanding and in near-HD quality. Her's the Amazon.com listing with a track listing and inspired commentary:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WN ... B002WNU0VC

If somebody prompts me, I'll scout up the Moodies doin's too.
