LA could have had him if they wanted. we didn't.
enjoy those brick free throws and unrealized potential. he'll be injured most of the season anyway.
don't be surprised if his number doesn't hang in the rafters of staples anytime soon either.
the big loser is more like it.

LeBron with Shaq last year: Cavs +3.4 pts per possession. LeBron without Shaq? +15.7. That experiment was fun wasn't it?

Totally agree LaDiablo.. And he shit talks about every team he leaves. He doesn't even compare against the great centers of all time... Just a big mass of a person who could move people around.

LaDiablo, unrealized potential??? Really??

Is he a shell of his former self? Of course. But he does have 4 titles and was pretty dominant for many years. Agreed trhat he does not compare to the all time great centers based on pure skill set, but no chance unrealized potential applies.

He is certainly on the very short list of best ever centers. He is just old and does not stay in great shape now. Along with Wilt he was the most physically dominating center to ever play.
If he wants to continue at a lesser role, why not?

It is what it is
Locals are split on this as well
If he can fill a hole, great... I think they got him cheap
Plus he is good for the economy... rented the top floor at the Westin for a few months
Lots of old sports guys come here to fade away

shaq could have been the most dominant center ever if he had tried.
guy is lazy and blames other for his shortcomings.
when he was on the lakers he NEVER came into camp in shape including one year when he elected to have foot surgery the week before the season opened. "i got hurt on company time, i heal on company time" or something to that effect was his infamous quote.
the team never fully recovered that year and lost in the finals with shaq never getting himself completely back in shape.
shit the guy still can't make a free throw. you would think a pro would practice enough to make at least half of his free shots but no. " i make em when it counts".
all he is is big. and if that isn't unrealized potential i don't know what is. the guy could have won 10 championships by now if he had the heart of kobe bryant in that body.
get an extra big chair for his fat ass on the boston bench cause thats where he's going to be. trying to ride the coattails of the celtic team for another ring. pathetic.
and i really hope he never sees his jersey hung in the staples rafters.

just saw this. too funny but also equally pathetic typical shaq

The newest Boston Celtic, Shaquille O'Neal, is looking to do a little boxing before he takes the court this season.

Who's the person he'd most like to step in the ring with? ESPN sports talk show host Jim Rome.

"The Big Aristotle" is upset over comments Rome made on his radio show Wednesday. Rome said that Shaq's career was not as great as it could have been and that he "never approached the game with the dedication or discipline of Kobe Bryant," his former teammate on the Lakers.

He also added that Celtics GM Danny Ainge made a mistake in signing Shaq.

"Normally, I'm on board with what Danny Ainge does, but not this time. I don't like this move," he bluntly said.

Those barbs set the big man off. Shaq took to his Twitter account (THE_REAL_SHAQ) last night to fire back.

"Jim Rome, I am happy with my career and the legacy that I have left behind, obviously u r not happy wit yur legacy I 4got u have no legacy," Shaq tweeted.

The 15-time NBA All-Star then laid out the challenge.

"Forget the back and forth Jim Rome, I challenge you to a boxing match, live at ESPN studios, show the world you can back up the tuff talk," he posted.

O'Neal also said that he would donate his salary to a charity of Rome's choosing if he lost the match. Shaq signed a two-year deal with Boston on Wednesday for the veteran's minimum, $1.5 million per year.

After that, Rome couldn't resist another chance to get under Shaq's skin. "For 8 mill, maybe, but I'm not getting my face caved in for the veteran's minimum. & you are a little out of my weight class," he responded.
