Well, guess what, Bunky, help is on the horizon. This outfit has come up with some innovative ways to cut that time down, and not so incidentally, help you never lose work due to time-outs caused by inefficient or bogus uses of system resources: Read it here:

As the article says, they aren't the only ones doing boot-up optimization, but it's a novel approach, a collaborative-improvement group and it's free. What's not to like?

Nice link, brother Jazzbo. I downloaded the free version and tried it -- took almost 1 minute off my old boot time. Easy to use and lots of info about each startup process.
