I want to read a couple of articles on ESPN, but I have to be an Insider to read them. I don't want a subscription and don't want to pay for one just to read a couple of articles. I'm saving my $ for my trip in May. Does anyone have an account so I can read the articles? Thanks! |

found these tips on a web search for the password hack/code I wrote several posts ago(here and here) that it appeared that it was far cheaper to subscribe to ESPN Magazine through a discount service for a great price as a way to get access to ESPN Insider content on the website. I can certainly confirm that this hack works great, with one caveat. Here’s the details: If you go to ESPN’s website and click on any of those stories–and belive me, it is most of the stories that you want to click on–with the little “Insider†icon next to them, you’ll be offered a free trial to the ESPN Insider Service. The cost for an annual subscription for this service is $39.95, and it includes the special Insider access at ESPN.com as well as at several “sister†networks including ABC and Disney (you can even set your K*ds up with their own accounts to use at any of these sites). You get an annual subscription to ESPN Magazine as part of this service. BUT, it also says there in the signup form that if you are currently a subscriber to ESPN Magazine, just enter the code from your mailing label and you will get full Insider acccess for the remaining term of your subscription. The caveat is this: it also says that your Insider service will be renewed automatically at the “prevailing rate†when it comes due. So as part of this hack, if you want to continue to get cheap access, by say getting a new subscription each year through one of the discount magazine subscription services, you’ll need to cancel the old Insider service before it renews automatically. But the savings is great. Subscribe to ESPN through MagsForLess today for just $7.32/year. That’s already way less than you’ll pay ESPN directly for a subscription. But want the best deal? The ESPN Insider sign up page says that you will get access to Insider service for the remainder of your current subscription when you sign up by giving them your current ESPN subscription number. Why not just use the MagsForLess link to sign up for a 4 year subscription to ESPN Magazine for just $26.44 and be done with the whole thing for 4 years! Now, that is a true deal! (Warning: I signed up for only the single year before I realized the value of the 4-year deal, so it is untested. I didn’t see, but there may be some fine print that limits the deal to less than the four year subscription. If somebody tries this post a comment and let me know it worked or not for the 4-year deal). There’s great Insider content up right now on the upcoming NFL draft and playoffs, hot stove league baseball news and rumors, and much more. Please use our links when purchasing to help us pay our hosting bills! Click the link above or in the Sidebar and just enter ESPN in the search bar at the MagsForLess site to find this deal. Final Hint: You don’t have to wait for your first issue to arrive to get access to the Insider service. I haven’t gotten my first issue yet for this subscription, but got access to the Insider service first by checking the ESPN magazine site customer service section every few days after subscribing. As soon as I could enter in my name and address info and see that it was in their system, I sent them an email and asked for my label code number so that I could enter it into the ESPN site. They responded in a couple of days with the number. So if you are as impatient as me, that’s the ticket. Enjoy. |

How the hell did googlebot index the site without a registration ? Many sites want their site indexed in google to recieve more hits and thus, make more money with advertisment on their site. Even more interesting is the following question: How do we use this to our advantage ? Its fairly easy, we have to disguise ourselfs as the google bot and voila, many sites let us in without registration. The parameter we have to change is called the User Agent. The user agent defines the browser and version that you use. For example it would show Internet Explorer as your browser if you are using this one. You need to alter your settings to the following: User Agent: Googlebot/2.1 Compatible: http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html You can do so in Opera with ease. Firefox offers an extension which is downloadable from the official website. For Internet Explorer you need to change registry entries. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @="Googlebot/2.1" "Compatible"="+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html" Save this as ua.reg and execute. To revert the changes back, you need the following: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)" Save as oua.reg and execute. im not sure how affective this is, has anyone tried it before??? all credit goes to the original source * this is only for educational purposes and not to be used in a malicious manner! |

worst case scenario, buy the cheapest, as in dirt cheap, online discount subscription to the magazine and free access with your subscription. I have heard as low as 4 dollars a year. |

I'm already a yearly member, but I will upgrade to lifetime membership before the yearly membership expires. I was just looking to read a couple of articles on ESPN. It's not worth it for a yearly subscription just to read an article or two, but CRT is more than worth the membership fee. Thanks guys! |
