Even Ticos make fun of their postal system. I found this joke in a Costa Rican newspaper we have here.

A week before Christmas, postal workers in San Jose find a letter addressed to Santa. They don't know what to do with it, so they open it. It's a letter from Carlos:

"Dear Santa,
Please send me 10,000 colones for a new pair of sneakers.

Gracias,
Carlos"

The postal employees were so touched that they took up a collection and sent the boy the money. A few days after Christmas, they get another letter from Carlos.

"Dear Santa,
Thank you for the gift but next year don't send it by mail becaause they stole the money.

Carlos"
