I just went into a corner gas station and was charged 13 cent tax on a Sunday Paper that has a $2.00 price on the front page. WTF ![]() ![]() NYG |

![]() ![]() NYG When I lived in Miami if you bought the Miami Herald from a newspaper vending machine you paid the .35 that was printed on the front page as the price. If you bought it at a news stand it was .37 because of the sales tax. ![]() |

Do not know where you live but a sales tax rate of 6.5% is not unusual. In many states that would be considered on the low side. Additionally some states allow local jurisdictions to piggy back and additional percentage on the States base rate. Ask someone what the current rate is in NYC ![]() |

What really frosts my cojones is states slapping an excise tax on certain classes of items then taxing the resulting price. Alcohol and tobacco, for example. |

You ! I live in Costa Rica and the import tax is more than what I paid in the USA for many things. And here Levi Jeans are 90 bucks due to import taxes. $27.99 at Kohls in the USA. oops. $27.99 plus tax. |
