Post subject:  Tiger Woods is in the house...here in Minnesota
Wonder if he'll exhibit his characteristic lack of sportsmanship, class and self-control, even while he blasts the new lengthened fairways at Hazeltine?

And will the tournament be delayed by weather?

And if Tiger swears again, will God smite him with a bolt of righteous lightning? (Probably not, 'cause Tiger could kick God's ass on the links). :D

Not sure whom you speak of here :shock: I seem to recall a few others in the game that had a similar a dispostion on the course (Jack, Hogan, Tom W.) and none were accused of such character flaws.
Hogan claimed to have not even noticed a Hole in one by his playing partner during one round.

If walking 72 hole with a torn ACL and winning a tournament wasn't testimony enough for you......there is always the LPGA :P :lol:

If I didn't mak0e it clear, I am talking about a superhuman athlete who curses, throws clubs, and in short makes other athletes of all sports (except perhaps pro wrestling) look tranquilo and gentlemanly by comparison. I'm talking about an athlete who, whether or not we choose to acknowledge it is an example to young people.

Playing with a torn ACL and winning has nothing to do with his level of sportsmanship, or lack thereof. It just shows he's a freak of nature and a great player...but being a great player is not the same as being sportsmanlike.

Contrast Tiger's typical behavior with Tom Watson, for example. Watson has accepted defeat with grace and class.

Actually, all that being said, I thought Tiger was amazingly cool and professional after losing the tournament by only three strokes. Yang won the tournament, largely because Tiger couldn't get his putting act together; Tiger freely and quietly acknowledged that and was a gentleman for most of the tournament. :D

Excellence in any endeavor doesn't excuse one from having to be polite and gentlemanly. There are too many "bad boys" in professional sports. JMHO. :wink:

Golf is a unique sport where most of the player's anger and disgust is directed at himself.
That being said Tiger gets so much publicity and is a role model for K*ds so he needs to work on this. Yes, it is hard to accept that you flub putts or shots like everyone else but it needs to be accepted gracefully.
He did take his defeat at the PGA quite well and maybe he will mellow out with a few more defeats.
In contrast it was gut wrenching to watch Harrington lose the Sunday before to Tiger and again drop off the leader board with an 8 on the par 3. His demeanor did not change at all and he just went on about his business even though you know he must have been bitterly disappointed. Also it was painful to watch Vijay Singh missing all the short putts and fading out on Saturday. No swearing or club throwing there.
