(AP) 5-25-2009 Washington, D.C. Mayor acknowledges Washington Nationals MLB team is in actuality a baseball-themed comedy group, performing shows a few days a week at the Stadium, though their gimmick of the home team always losing becomes predictable after a while. |

And I thought that the only reason the Giants were visiting DC for this week is because Michele Obama has invited them to the White House… It may get worse for the Nationals…SF Giants pitchers this week: Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum going for his 500th career K on Tuesday, Big Unit Randy Johnson going for his 300 career win on Wednesday and Matt Cain (6-1 2.31) on Thursday. Californicationdude, you may want to stock up on valium

Big Unit's big number: Randy Johnson wins 300th By JOSEPH WHITE, AP Sports Writer WASHINGTON (AP) Randy Johnson had to wait a while for his shot at 300 wins. The crowd was small, and the weather was wet. His performance, however, was more than worthy of the occasion. The Big Unit hit the big number on Thursday, becoming the 24th pitcher to reach one of baseball's most revered milestones. Johnson tossed two-hit ball over six innings, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals in the first game of a doubleheader. Johnson allowed only an unearned run and threw 50 of his 78 pitches for strikes. He faced four batters above the minimum and got spotless relief from his bullpen. He left leading 2-1, but nearly wound up with a no-decision. The Nationals loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth before Adam Dunn was called out on strikes with a full count on a knee-high fastball from reliever Brian Wilson. San Francisco added three runs in the ninth. Some of the few thousand fans who witnessed Johnson's victory - the Nationals have trouble drawing a crowd for anything these days - chanted "Randy! Randy!" in the bottom of the ninth. When the game was over, he gave hugs to teenage son Tanner, who served as a Giants batboy, as well as his teammates. Johnson then tipped his hat to the cheering crowd before disappearing into the dugout. |

Baseball Fans Delighted By New Between-Innings Fuck-Cams July 9, 2009 | Onion Sports WASHINGTON—Attendance may be down, but the fans at last week's game didn't care—they were too busy enjoying the stadium's new Fuck-Cam. "We've been really surprised and delighted by the crowd reaction," said Washington Nationals public relations director Janine Perry, who started the Fuck-Cam program that has since been emulated by every other ballpark in the major leagues, except Miller Park in Milwaukee. "Apparently, people who like watching baseball games also really enjoy watching other people have sex. And not just between innings, either. If the action on the screen is still going when the play on the field resumes, they'll still watch. The Fuck-Cam has been quite a phenomenon." |
