Perhaps I'm not as wise in the ways of baseball as El Silencioso, but isn't playing the best in the playoffs the preferred (and perhaps, the only) way to become world champ?  For example, if the Cubs had "played the best in the playoffs," wouldn't they have won the world series? That of course, was purely a hypothetical question.

Ciaociao I think what ES was trying to say was that the Phillies tended to score more runs than their opponents did in the post season (on a game by game basis.) Hope that helps...PHX |

Anybody catch Mr. Utleys "Expletive Undeleted"? Guaranteed to be on YouTube. The only criticism leveled against him previously was he was too-tightlipped and buttoned-down, too coolly professional. His appearance and remark puts the lie to that and in a gritty, blue-collar city like Philly, endears him all the more. Barring injuries, we'll see him in the HoF. He re-defines a middle-infielder for this era the way Ozzie Smith did in his. Please name me a better 5-tool player. |
