Frankly, I think it's a pathetic grasping for approval from utter strangers based on ephemeral values by the Facebook generation, but then I'm a homely guy with very limited social skills (theme song="I'm on the Outside Looking In" by Littltle Anthony and the Imperials) so maybe it's just sour grapes.
