Any other mongers like to ride motorcycles? I am thinking about buying a BMW K 1200 LT. However, the sticker price is making me think twice. 22k could buy me lots of sessions in ZB with Lorena! ![]() |

I am a lifelong BMW rider and it is hard to beat the quality, durability and efficiency of the BMW motorcycles. I suggest you decide on type of riding first. The 1200C is a cruiser and not as suitable for sport riding or long distance ridings as other models are. BKTUNA I am never going home |

Japanese bikes are flawless and run forever at lost initial cost and low maintenance cost. Harleys have image. Pick a good ride at a good cost and save the bucks for ticas. PS BMW's are also flawless, but at an Euro adjusted price. Don't pay more than you have to for a good ride. Decide if you want a street bike, a ninja bike a chopper or a cruiser and then make a best value selection. My 7 years old Honda 750 Shadow Ace looks like new and costs nearly nothing to operate or maintain. I'd like a Harley, but I'm too stupid to fix it when it breaks down at the wrong time. |

Thanks for the info. While I like Harleys I think they are mostly about image and looking cool during bike week. I'd rather have a BMW that will last me forever and not take a rocket scientist to repair. I am also definately getting a touring model as I am not 18 anymore! ![]() |

I ride an '04 Honda Shadow 1100 V-Twin. I've only put 4,000 miles on it, but it runs and rides flawlessly. My only complaint, is that I wish it were louder, to give me a better presence on the road. I'm not a "biker" so I don't really care to buy a Harley. But there's nothing like the sound of a nice hog, and because they're so loud, it makes it much easier for people (cars) around you to hear you. I've had a couple close calls on my bike, and if it were louder, they might've been avoided. Either way, if you ride - be careful. Everyone on the road is in a hurry, and noone sees you! MG |

JW- here in Florida if you have $10k in insurance coverage you don't have to wear a helmet. I don't know what the laws are in your neck of the woods, but I would encourage you to wear a helmet when you ride. Good luck in your motorcycle endeavors. |

Think the weather will be fine by the weekend. Nevertheless, it is a touring bike and will handle fine in inclement weather. |

Jim, Owned 2 BMW's,along with rice rockets and Harleys. BMW was my favorite. Had an old R100. Rode that bike everywhere. Toured Novia Scotia on that for 4 days, never fataguied. Still owe a speeding ticket ( over 20 years ago) How was i supposed to know that 100 KPH was only like 65 MPH??? I have a '95 K75s that i hit a deer on. By the grace of God, I'm still here. Killed the deer, a little damage to the bike, but other than that, no problems. You made a fine choice........ Squid |
