In my opinion the Fillmore Album, Idlewild South and Eat a Peach were classic albums. The Allmans did not to exist after the deaths of Berry and Duane.

Exactly. A pale shadow of their former selves.
Sorry to hear about one of the Godfather's of BritBlues. I always liked the album version of that song quoted--LJB telling it all to a judge, after being busted for street busking.

Blue Mitchell and Freddie Robinson circa 1970; part of John Mayall's sortie into the Land of Jazz. While both Mitchell and Robinson done deaded....their music lives on and on...and least with this player who has every release each of these guys put out. Mayall tried to help 'em out....Mayall's like that...always looking for the new....what a guy....

Blue Mitchell (with Mayall in the background on a somewhat misplaced harp)....

Freddie Robinson, prior to working with Mayall....doing Black Fox on that Barney Kessel

Freddie Robinson, back on the Barney Kessel doing Off the Cuff......

OH! I can't help myself.....here's some Charles Kynard hangin' out on that Hammond B3

We gotta stop somewhere!!! Let's do it with Charles Earland....Leaving This Planet.....featuring Freddie Hubbard on that horn and Joe Henderson on that reed.....Did Charles get his drums on board?????

As Brother Steven1 did us a solid by mentioning some soul-jazz organists, I thought I'd expand it a bit with an AllMusic.com article on it. I am a huge fan of the B3 and we live in a resurgent time for it, but piano players are in the mix too;

...and I had the pleasure of hanging out with this player friday night....he just showed up in town unannounced....did 2+ hours of a free show .... mostly on the 88's.....I was there and what....it's hard not to have a good time with the K*D......I was surprised ....well....not really.....that I really was not hip at all to this guy....this YouTube video is but a simple sample of just how good this guy is....

PS: What was so cool is learning that most ALL the schoolgirls LOVE this guy...and it got my greasy haired, Mr. Magoo looking fat ass self lucky that night....and after only two of my own cover works of "Woman Across the River" and "Going Down"....Freddy King style!!!!!! ahahahahahhahahahahahahaha.....It's FUNNNNNNNNNNNNN BEING ME!!!!! 8)

While noted earlier.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSdyhZDfFuk is my buddy....Mike Finnigan blasting out on the B3...straight out of Wichita, Kansas by way of Stephen Stills, Finnigan & Wood, Phantom Blues Band, Jimi Hendrix....(yes...Mike is the keyboardist on Electric Ladyland...), blah, blah, blah. Getting the fucck out of bumfuck, so to speak....; Ya hear me back there?! "HEY!!" "HEY!" that whistle.....YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! HEY!! HEY!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Finnigan

and we cannot leave out keyboard and B3 lover Brian Auger... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxxSi0JV18Q who, even at age 71 is doing it....and his little daughter ain't too hard to look at....

Yes, we're a bit on the pale side at the moment, not forgetting Jimmy Smith and many, many, many other guys out there. This stuff provides momentary reasons....better than drugs....I think........wait.....well....hmmmm....yeah....wait..... :oops: :P
