Amazing how "fans" get so scope locked and forced into group think.

First, 99 times out of 100 the asst. coaches in the booth advise the head coach to throw challenge flags. Will Coughlin blame the assistants? Never.

Second, SIX TURNOVERS yesterday!! It is Coughlin's fault Eli forces throws into coverage? It is Coughlin's fault receivers break off routes and cause picks? Coughlin gave up 400+ yards passing with THAT D-LINE? Hold the players accountable!!!
It' Coughlin's fault that the players aren't drilled sufficiently to catch the passes, run the routes and NOT throw into coverage. It's Coughlin's fault if the guy in the booth isn't competent enough to say when to throw the flag or not. It's Coughlin's fault the team isn't disciplined enough to play a game without stupid penalties and mental errors. It's Coughlin's fault that the motivation and enthusiasm level of the team is super low and that they didn't play with extreme anger and hostility to regain pride 1 week after one of the most embarassing losses in the history of the NFL. That is Coughlin's fault. There are many coaches in the NFL who have a fraction of the talent of the Giants and get consistent results week after week.

Look what happened to Dallas when they finally got rid of Wade Phillips. It's not the Giants players that are the problem, there isn't a greater pool of talent anywhere in the league. It's a leadership issue and it stems from the top down. The proof is that they can play 52 minutes of near perfect football against Philly and then fall apart the last 7 minutes. It's not the talent, it's motivation, inspiration, respect and a solid consistent game plan designed by competent people that they lack.

So let me get this straight. A coach comes up with such a GREAT game plan that is works for 52 minutes, versus the the MOST difficult player in the league to defend, mind you. One of the biggest things in coaching is to put your team, and players, in a position to succeed. Mission accomplished for the Giants. They have been outplayed, not out coached! And it is the coach's fault they players Phuck up the last 8 minutes? It is the coach's fault that players can't motivate themselves for 60 minutes? Give me a break, they are professionals getting paid!!!

And before you stump so hard for Cowher, or disciplinary coaches like him. Most changes work because they are actual changes. Going from discipline to a "player's coach" (hate that term by the way). It worked in Dallas for several reasons this year. Garrett installed some much needed discipline and accountablility that phillipps was lacking. It also helped that Garrett could dangle their jobs in front of them as motivation.

Amazing how good of a coach you are when the players actually execute and play how they are paid to play

Could not have said it better. Best quote I have heard in the last 24 hours is this:

Forget Cowher I do not want to invest 15 years for one ring!

Coach has been there half the time and got a ring. Cowher stinks as a head Coach and John Mara knows it. And if anyone wants to go with the JETS the GMEN WILL NOT MISS YOU

By what do you base your statement that Cowher stinks as a head coach?. Certainly not his record or time spent in the post season, what is your criteria?.

Why would you have to invest 15 years with Cowher to get a ring?. Do you think you'll get one faster with a coach that the players obviously do not respect and won't play for and who makes bonehead decisions week in and week out?.

As to going to the Jets, I don't care if the Giants miss me or not, loyalty is a two way street. If whoever is in charge doesn't care about me and other fans enough to put a guy in charge who can get it done and get the players to execute fundamental football in key games consistently then I see no reason to stick around and continue taking a beating. Win or lose, the Jets play with heart, they're motivated, enthusiastic and give it their best. Coughlin gets all mad and paces around like he's shocked when they fall apart- but it doesn't look like he really gives a sh*t. Either way he seems incapable to fix it, so......NEXT.

15 years in the same stable franchise and falied in 3 home afc championship games and one sb. Then Russ Grimm and Coach Wisenhunt had to beg him to let Big Ben throw the ball against the colts. HAD TO BEG  15 YEARS AND ONE RING WITH ALL THAT TALENT THE STEELERS HAD. Stupid, stuborn man and Shitty coach

Name me the current giant player that has had anything bad to say about Coach :?:

All of them seem to blame themselves for the lost. they are all talking about how Coughlin leaves no stone unturned to prepare them to succeed 8) You sound like someone who will not be convienced and that is cool. If you do have PSL seats I maybe able to help you sell them. If you do not shut up :P

No offense, but it's a little ridiculous to suggest that because it took him a certain amount of time to win a SB with one team that it would hold true with a different one- there are thousands of different factors involved.

Still don't get why you are calling him stupid and saying he is a shitty coach, his W-L and playoff record blows Coughlin out of the water, also the very fact that he had 15 consecutive years there says something too. Just say if you don't like him, but calling him a stupid or bad coach is.....stupid and flies in the face of reality.

First off, no Giants are going to bad mouth Coughlin while he is still the head coach, out of respect for him, fear for themselves and a gag-rule that most teams employ. Secondly, I don't need any players to tell me he is not doing his job, I can see that perfectly clear from their performance and attitude during the game.

I sound like someone who is not going to be convinced of what?, that Coughlin is a great coach, even a good coach?. A good coach doesn't have what is going on the with Giants this year and the last 3 years happen. If they do then they are no longer a good coach. It's more and more apparent each year that the "magic" of '07 was largely do to Spagnola's influence in motivating and setting the enthusiasm tempo for the team.

I think this discussion has about played itself out and the decision is out of either one of our hands. Good luck to you and good luck to the Giants.

Just like we thought all along

Seems like a lot of teams going that route this year. I'm hoping the Fins hang onto to Sparano. Maybe they can get Jeff Ireland to do his job better and evaluate some talent!

My guess is there are 2 pennies waiting to drop...1st is where Harbaugh lands, and 2nd is where Cowher lands.
