Congrats to the Dodgers for this big coup. Mr. Lee should do well for them--maybe not Strasbourg well, but still a force to be reckoned with. The Dodgers as that AGM said, have historically had excellent pitcher development programs. A win-win for both sides.

today just might be the saddest day in a horrible season.
vin scully is making an announcement regarding his future announcing the team.
hard to imagine him doing this to say he will come back one more year. i think he's probably gone.
all the diehards might want to tune in and check it out. game time 110pst. i think i'm going to cry.

Has there ever been a player who got by on pure slugging talent, occasionally displayed?

Yes, Dick (or Richie) Allen

An ex Dodger (Played 1971 and traded to Chi White Sox for Tommy John)

08 was something i will not soon forget. too bad about the peds but that just seems to go w the era. manny was nothing but a positive influence on the clubhouse and i never saw anyone in my lifetime hit the ball like that. playing for a contract i think the sox just tapped lightning with extensions.

Funny thing--you actually got one right about me. When I first got to Corpus Christi in the early '70's, I spent the first 2-3 weeks living in an appliance carton (think "CCC,I") under a freeway overpass. So I truly have been troll-ish. Good going, "Brother"guy--there's hope for you yet.
