Go to the movies and order "palomitas con caramelo"---fresh caramel popcorn. Good and pretty cheap too.

You can take a date to the movies in CR for about $15 total. It's almost $15 for 1 ticket here.

Are movies in English? Do the chicas charge extra to go to the movies in addition to the $15 quoted? If not what kind of service does the $15 get you? Is that $15 USA money or Costa Rica money?

Well here's a different 1st post for you. The answers: no--it's a Spanish-speaking country/Depends on the relationship/a brilliant smile/"$" is USD; otherwise he'd most likely said colones.

ROFL! Here I was all worried about asking a noob question and someone else did it the first time. :) I want to do some stuff with a favorita and was wondering about the cinema in San Jose. I don't care if it's in English since I am trying to learn Spanish, but I haven't been able to find a website that actually showed the movie schedule. I've seen that theater near LA but no movie schedule so far.

Joshua Lionel Cowen (August 25, 1877-September 8, 1965), born Joshua Lionel Cohen, was an American inventor and the cofounder of Lionel Corporation, a manufacturer of model railroads and toy trains.

Cowen sold his first electric train in 1901 to a store owner in Manhattan, intending to use the train to call attention to other merchandise. The store owner returned the next day to order six more trains, because customers wanted to buy the store display. By 1902, Lionel was primarily a toy train manufacturer. He started his company, the Lionel Corporation. His trains continue to sell today.

Cowen retired in 1959, selling his 55,000 shares of Lionel stock to his great-nephew Roy Cohn. He died September 8, 1965 in Palm Beach, Florida. He is buried in Brooklyn, New York.

"Bull's-ear, Catnip" is from a beer commercial series aired in the '70s and '80s. I think it was for Miller Lite. They starred comedian Norm Crosby (the master of the malaprop) and various sports stars.

In this particular ad, Catfish Hunter is tossing darts in a bar and Crosby intrudes on him, calling out, "Hey, Catfood Hunter!" The commercial continues, including all the "less filling, tastes great" crap. The tag of the commercial shows Hunter whipping a dart, which drives the entire dartboard through the wall of the bar. Crosby pats him on the back and says, "Bull's-ear, Catnip!"

Humboldt Redwoods State Park, a remote California forest. At 115.56 m (379.1 ft) and nine feet taller than its neighbour, the Stratosphere Giant, it was determined to be the world’s tallest tree. Hyperion is not only the world’s tallest tree but also the world’s tallest living thing. And it might also be one of the world’s oldest, given that redwoods live for up to 2,200 years – that’s older than our modern calculation of time.

However, Australia’s Eucalyptus regnans trees (also referred to as Eucalyptus trees) have been widely regarded as the tallest trees ever recorded.

Many sources have stated that the tallest tree ever recorded is the “Ferguson Tree” (measured by William Ferguson). On February 21, 1872, the fallen tree was measured at 132.6 meters (435 feet) - and that was after the top had broken off! The trunk, where it had broken off, was still a meter in diameter, and some estimated that the tree could have been taller than 152.4 meters (500 feet) tall.

.....but I am rather certain it's a "trick" question..... :P

The World's First Ski Chair Lift was operational at Sun Valley Idaho in 1936. It is now located in Ishpeming, MI. It was retired from operation.
