This just in--I know back-to-back posts are discouraged here BUT
Phillies 7; LAX bunch 2, earning the Philly 9 a split and a 5-2 West Coast trip. Better luck next time, "paper cut" gang. It's been real.

A split on the road with the team with the best won/lost record in baseball is impressive. Not ready to declare either team the NL champion yet, it's a long season, but a LA- PHL playoff looks like it would be exciting.

This talk of a LAXative-Yankroid World Series is rather premature, don't you think?

And a Phillies-Red Sox series is less so? Or are you just upset no one has included the Phillies in the mix? :P

Yes, Brother ID is correct--but considering how badly the Phightin' Phils have been playing lately--cf. that wretched series in SF--not sure if they deserve mention. Check back with me in 2 weeks--the other Phillies (the winners) could show up any day now. The LAXatives are an excellent team playing terrific baseball--the question is not will they make the post-season but will they prevail there? The less said about the newly-dynastic Red Sox, the better.

Just to show y'all I'm not just a buster--The Dodgers just signed Jim Thome. Mr. Thome is a class act all the way and well deserves to be on a team with a serious shot at a ring. He may be the key piece they need.

Por fin, upper managent makes a late season acquisition that signifies our intent to push for a title. It might be tough getting Thome in, I feel it would be tough to expect some production out of a guy that won't start. Do we put him at first and sit James down? like Jim Rome said today on burning.. Does this guy even own a glove or a cap? Hopefully he still knows how to catch... good riddens AL. It's always mice to pick up a bat that would have gone to the giants if we didn't grab him. Garland should make an imediate impact. Let's go Doyers!
