I remember my one speed bike with a deck of cards & some clothes pins I had an engine sound until my spokes got loose & my rim looked funny. We had 2 channels on the TV & finely got 3! This was over a 30% improvement. Now it can be 157 channels & nothing is on.

We had one of the first color TVs in our neighborhood. One TV we had had a round picture tube. Plasma sure looks better now. I remember my father replacing the tubes. We had a whole bucket of them. Hey tube amps are still cool!

I loved how we used our imaginations to entertain ourselves. I miss the simplicity of those days & no one seemed to be Bipolar. I spent enough days in detention. The principles wood paddle sure hurt like hell. I was told I would never amount to much & maybe they were right but I sure have fun playing with the Chicas. I wonder if they ever had as much fun as this.

I remember when I was such a poor college student living off of 89 cent TV dinners. Being poor was not much fun but we still found a way to laughed at our situation. I really had fun no mater what. Remember all the cars without AC.

I remember my jeans; the knees never lasted long before a big whole was there. Then they came out with those iron on patches that my mom was fond of. I remember being a hyper K*D but was told by the teachers & my parents to control it or else. Amazing but I could control it if I wanted too. Now they give the K*ds dextroamphetamine so that everybody’s job is easier yet they don’t want their K*ds to grow up to be Meth addicts????????

I remember back then it was our fault we got in trouble & we had to accept responsibility but now you can blame it on someone or something else & everyone listens to this Bullshit    .

Phuck the Prozac I will go where I can be myself & be happy. How many Ticos do you think take antidepressants or mood elevators! How many of their Ch*ldren are given drugs to “correct” their behavior???

All of your recollections have given me chills of nostalgia. I remember setting up high jump and pole vault (using a long stick of bamboo as the pole) rigs in my front yard. Go carts with no brakes. Skate boards made by nailing old roller skates onto a plank. Amazing that no bones broke.

We didn't have drugs like "X." Sniffing glue from a sack!! Now that was a real high.

My dad always used to tell the nuns on the first day of school that they had permission to hit me if need be. It was necessary, I'm sorry to say.

Its fun to look at yesterday in a nostalgic way. But our K*ds will have their stories too. And to the extent that we think the current generation is spoiled, we are the ones who raised them.

All of these reflections make me realize one thing.....

YOU GUYS ARE FREAKIKNG OLD!!! :D :D :D :D

Maybe I should bring a few cases of Ensure down on my next trip to SJO. I could make a fortune selling that stuff :D :D

I guys in 70 years I'll be saying the same thing. "Holographic Entertainment Consoles? When I was a K*D, all we had was the Atari 2600 and Pac Man" "Back in my day, computers couldn't just read your thoughts and do what you wanted them to do, you actually had to TYPE."

I'm young, but I also experienced some of that.

What happened to K*ds playing outside and playing sports in the parks? We had to fight to get on the field since there was only one baseball field in my area and everybody wanted to play. We had to wait an hour to get on the basketball courts in the park. My parents had to come drag my ass home at 9pm in the summer. Now, I drive by the park in the middle of summer, it's empty. All the K*ds are inside their air conditioned apartments playing Playstation 3 and eating their way to obesity.

When I was a K*D, we didn't have weight problems (or asthma, or allergies) because we played outside, ran around until we dropped, and actually knew what fresh air smelled like. Our bodies got a good workout EVERY DAY. K*ds today are fat, lazy, and usually indoors, from school to the house.

Don't recall anyone mentioning burning leafs in the fall of the year.

My great aunt still had a hand crank phone and everyone was on some type of party line.

My grandparents had an outhouse for the guys, the ladies got to use the indoor pot. They had piss pots under the beds, bed warmers that we would put hot coals in from the coal burning furnace in the basement. No central heat, all confection flow through floor grates. They had a wood burning stove and a hand pump for water in the kitchen. They raised most of their own food using a plow horse and milk cows.

Milkmen put glass bottles of milk on the stoop.

No stinking lite ass beer, we used to get buckets of beer at the beer gardens on saturday nights and use a dipper to fill our glasses, I was 10, no problem cus the whole family was there.

When TV was brand new the test pattern stayed on for hours and a BIG screen was a big magnifing glass as the actual CRT was about 9" sq.

Picnics in the park.

Saturday afternoons at the flick house watching cartoons and cowboy serials. The good guys almost always wore white hats. Hoppy, Roy, Gene, Kimosabe and Tonto. When having a horse as a best friend didn't brand you a pervert.

I remember the big bands, the Dorsey Bros, Benny Goodman and a young Frank Sanatra. There was rock and roll before Elvis.

Early Stereo was so unique, sound effect records were very popular, e gad zooks, different shounds on the speakers, Oh what a marval. 78 rpm records.

The first transistor radios were neat but the biggest thrill was the new 9v batteries, especiall when you got your buddy to taste it.

Dungeries with rolled up cuffs were all the norm, you grew into your clothes.

White buck shoes when I started to get hip.

We had ballroom dancing classes in school.

In the fall of the year we'd watch the countless flocks of geese and ducks flying south. Later we would watch the hunters coming home with the deer tied over the front of their cars, showing off their prizes.

Cars had running boards, some used the suicide knobs on the steering wheels. No FM. No AC. No padded dashes. Exterior sun visors over the windshild. No shatter proof glass. BIG cars. Packards. The trany and drive shaft humps down the middle of the interior. Ash trays & electric lighters.

Sex was never supposed to be fun, just to have k*ds. Me I wanted to repopulate the world and do it hootin and hollering all the way.l

When there were NO Jap motorcycles. We had Harley's, Indians and the British bikes. The first wave of Honda's was neat, the 50cc up to the big 305s.

Pro football was almost unknown, pro boxing and baseball were the big sports. No big arenas.

I remember the first big basketball house, Freedom Hall in Louisville Ky.

No AIDS, just the clap or crabs. Do we still have crabs ?

Got to stop, I'm remembering Harry S and Estes K, Ike and that worthless VP Dick what's his name.
