Well, to put the Brother Zunbake3-Fest on hiatus for a moment: I challenge you to find a more impassioned version of this tune than this next, whether White, Black or other. Killer B-3. NOTE: The second time you play it, TURN IT UP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7PpXSC1NN4
Same cat, doing one of his own: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fymw5ie9Zd4&NR=1
WTF, one more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ljOHCAP ... re=related
WTF Pt. 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unqaizp9 ... re=related
Lots more on YouTube. He was another deeply flawed great one.

How about Lee Michaels doing "I Got Murder In My Heart For The Judge" I knew a redneck back in the 70's in Tuscon, AZ that when I turned him on to that song, played it all night long, hundreds of times!!

Here are some other pretty Impassioned versions of "Stormy Monday."

The Genius (with a bit of a Cecil Taylor coda):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIGoqv8zlRE
Ry Cooder with the Johnnie Johnson Band and Annie Sampson:

The great Johnnie Taylor with Vasti Jackson on guitar:

My favorite, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy proving that less is often more:

And some less impassioned but great versions.

Eddie Tigner with a really swinging rhythm section:

Grandpa Elliot in The French Quarter (including fanny packs and strollers):

Talk about artists we've overlooked--here's Brenda Lee, comin' on strong:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhxC3F1hvdo

Thin line back then between country and R&B--as much instrumentation and orchestration as voice. Here's a LaVern Baker tune that would've fit Brenda's voice perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8vb4hyS49s

About Brother El Tranquilo's mention: Never heard of Eddie Tigner before and his catalog is thin but if you like him, here's what (little) AllMusic has:

The Black Keys are on an esoteric label previously known for 12th century nonets and such. My, how they've grown up. Relevance here? A Web link to news/SPIN interview about their next album--bad news is it ain't soul, at least not this kinda soul: http://www.nonesuch.com/

Veering wildly off-tangent, here's Cee-Lo Green's "F#ck You" with Spanish lyrics. Howl at the moon with this one--you'll be in good company:
