I understand what Forum this is but the OP missed the word "extreme" in the good doctor's explanation. I lived with a bi-polar woman for 10+ years and it's not fun but not contagious. You can get caught up with their mania but it's not catchable either. Just make sure they're not mucking about with dosages of the meds and everything is livable.
