Horrific topic, no? But clearly, allegedly more humane alternatives haven't worked. A well-written review of a new book on this subject: http://www.economist.com/node/18864244
Am I persuaded? Yes. Convinced? Not so much. What do y'all think?

I prefer shock collars, if my lab can understand what it means , a human should learn to obey even before I even hit the #3 the first time

I love The Economist. Too bad they want $270 to deliver to Costa Rica and to buy an issue in a newstand here is about $12. I believe it was about $1.50 an issue when I had it delivered in the States.

From the front cover of the Economist--CR = 6900 colones--US = $6.99 and subscriptions in the US 51 issues = $126.99. Thank you Ben Franklin for free libraries and Andrew Carnegie for making them more widespread.
