Over the years I've heard girls talking about the States, both non's and p4p'ers. I've heard very few speak ill of the U.S., although I've always chalked it up to the money/opportunity thing. Recently, though, I overheard my girl speaking in glowing terms to friends back in Brazil - especially around the "safety" factor. Specifically, she compared it to her hometown of Tombos, Minas Gerais, where there is zero crime and everybody knows everybody. I've been there, and Miami ain't no Tombos. But compared to Rio, her other point of reference, I suppose it is.
She still misses Brazil. We both do, and plan to return soon. But it does give me a bit of perspective hearing her talk. With monger fever can come risks you conveniently overlook. Not to say these should spook anybody, unless you're perhaps thinking of Iran as your next party destination.
But looking back, yeah, there were risks, and yeah, it feels a lot safer here.
