I don't see Southern Cal winning it all this year. I'm not a big Mark Sanchez fan. He's a real gunslinger that makes major mistakes, but has a strong arm and is mobile. They should have at least two losses. Possibly Ohio St. which needs to prove it can win the big one away from home, and at least one Pac 10 upset. The one good thing is that SC practices against what many consider the best defense in college football, with 9 returning starters and many All-American candidates.

Other than watching SC kick the cr*p out of Notre Dame again and the SC/Ohio St. game, I'm really looking forward to the Florida/Georgia game November 1st, at Georgia. That should be a war, with possible National Championship considerations. Also that day Texas/Texas Tech & Oklahoma/Nebraska. What a day to watch college football.

The first week is looking good also. Possible upsets the first week:

Utah over Michigan
Alabama over Clemson
Florida Atlantic over Texas

It all begins tonight!!!!!!!

Santas Bro- just to clarify (I know you are on the West Coast and I enjoy reading about your jaunts to TJ)- the Georgia/Fla game is played annually in Jacksonville. In modern times it was only played in Athens (if at all) when they remodeled/renovated the Gator Bowl into Altell Stadium (now called Jacksonville Memorial Stadium) for the Jags.

I too am looking forward to that game!

"Alltel" Stadium...we let the corporate sponsorship contract expire after selling the mortgage business in Jacksonville to Fidelity (this was closely followed by the Super Bowl). No reason to sponsor the stadium after those two events.

A note to Tstef527: Nebraska has led the nation in Academic All-Americans for over 30 years. Yes, we recruit student athletes and always have. Imagine that!

The downfall between 2004-2007 can be directly placed on the shoulders of two people: AD Steve Pedersen and head coach Bill Callahan. Fortunately they have both been replaced (by Tom Osborne and Bo Pelini, respectively) and things started looking much better instantly.

More importantly...even if Ohio State runs the table and goes 11-1...PLEASE PLEASE do not let them be in the championship game in Miami

I was shocked by the reaction of Tressel and Laurinaitis:

Here was Jim Tressel and all he could do was smile and shrug.
“The guys fought hard,” he offered Saturday night. “I don’t know that we did the best we could do, but we fought hard.”

“We kept fighting, I’m happy with the effort,” said linebacker Jim Laurinaitis, perhaps oblivious to the 35 consecutive points USC scored, a number that could’ve been greater had Trojans coach Pete Carroll wanted to run it up.

Any Ohio State fans out there. Were you happy with their fighting hard, and effort. Being an SC fan, I was even let down by their game, their poor game plan, and lack of anything innovative. I was hoping for a really well fought game.

hey SB, I am a big OSU fan, I think our players tried their best, but the big 10 can not handle that speed and power of USC. Tressel is a good coach, he can beat the big 10 teams but not the wide open offense of the west coast. hope to see you in TJ this fall.

:D :D RIP, BigTen :D :D :D
