Olio , restaurant and pub
Last month a tico friend took me this place , located in the Barrio Escalante, not far from the bar Raffa.
It says Miditerranean but they serve some Middle Eastern dishes as well as Italian. I tried their Falafel, not the best I have eaten but good nonetheless. Their pasta was surprisingly good though. 4 person, appetizers, entres, 2 desserts, beers and a couple whisky, total bill
was about 108 USD.
I was told the place , the building that is, is about 100 years old. It used to be a wharehouse and in front of the place, they still have the teeny weeny original CR rail track . You have to see it to believe how tiny and narrow the track really was . Apparently they were using really small carts on those rail back then. The place was small, again very cozy. the bar is at the end of the narrow restaurant, waiters spoke ok English, menu was in both English and Spanish. Didn't see any visible touristo there that night. Mostly twenty/thirty something locals. More ticas frequented the bar, from what I saw, in and out very quick, for quick drinks I suppose, but not pro looking in any way.
I'd go back again.
The address is , as per their business card :
