I know this tico chicken/chinese food place has been mentioned in the mariscar chicken posts. I think this place is worthy of its own post becuase the food is good, cheap and offers fast service (The service at Mariscar is slow) It is located about two blocks south of the Hotel Presidente. Directions from main entrance at the presidente: Walk out the front door and turn left. Then hang another left going around the corner of the News Cafe. The next big intersection is Avenida 2. Cross Avenida 2 and keep walking, you will see an empty lot on the left hand side. The very first building will be Pollo Campesino on the left. The menu offers comparable items that Mariscar offers. They offer rotisserie chicken, fried chicken and chinese food. ! Bon Appetit ! |

For about 5 years this was my favorite place in town for the price and food. I then got a piece of chicken there that was nearly raw and it turned me off. I hope that was an isolated occurance involving a new staff member, but around that time Mariscar started doing coffee-wood rotisserie chicken, so I stared buying there. When I used to buy chickens at Pollo Campesino it was convenient because it was near the bus stop I took to get out of town. Now I stay in Amon, so Mariscar is closer and I usually walk. |
