Well, last night, Bill, VB, Bulldog and I went on a vegitarians nightmare! This new restaurant on the edge of Sabana and Rorhmoser opened I believe a month ago. It is the same chain stateside. Bulldog told us this churassco would run about $35/head. Well the food was incredible. The garlic beef and baby beef were my favorite. Now we know there is some good beef in CR ... its just all here. The bst news at the end of the night was that the base meal was unde 9000 colones or under $20. Definately worth it! |

Finally made it, a day late, but I made it. I agree the food was very good. They are talking about having a 24-hr bar open about 3 nights a week in a month or so with live Brazilian music. There is a nice, comfortable bar to the right of a huge dining area as you walk in. |

YO Carnivores: Arby's has somewhat decent thin slices of beef for a sandwich. I can get slices of "okay" beef in a number of places. You still have not solved the "No tender delicious steak in CR" problem. YAWN !!!! |

Gentlemen, Fogo WILL become a CRT favorite! I make a point to eat at the one in Atlanta whenever I get that way. These guys bring most of their meat and labor in from Brazil. The “rodizio†is Brazilian style BBQ, where whole cuts of meat are placed on 3’- 4’ skewers then roasted vertically over an open pit fire. Carvers walk from table to table slicing off whatever you want. They generally serve 7 or 8 different meats and a fish, and yes you get to have as much as you can eat of all of them! Last time they served roast whole sirloin, a marinated flank steak, whole roast beef tenderloin, pork roast, sausage and peppers, turkey breast wrapped in bacon, and salmon. This is served with several sides and a salad bar that is also amazing. For those of you that get to Vegas, Samba in the Mirage is a copy of these guys without the salad bar. Yes, this is a carnivore’s delight, and a vegetarian’s worst nightmare… This will probably push Cuban cigars to third on my list of CR favorite things to do, (I still group all Tica’s into the first…) Anybody in CR Nov 5th join me for dinner, you won’t be disappointed |

Exactly where is this? The corner of Sabana Oeste and Rohrmoser Blvd SW is occupied by the Rohrmoser family compound, if I recall. Where is it from there? |

Think that is the strip center they built about 2 years ago and never got a tenant. The ripped off the front and redesigned it. Guess it worked as the restaurant is now there. |

I was blessed and had the opportunity to dine at Fogo Brazil on the last night of my vacation. I had looked forward to sampling the brazilian barbeque buffet style meats. I dined in the company of VB, Son of VB, Handy, Mrs. Handy, Papichullo and Mrs. Papichullo. A fun and classy group of people. The front of the restaurant is impressive and built to USA standards. It was raining the night we went, but there is a covered circular driveway so that the ladies don't have to get there hair wet. Valet parking is available too. There are two large dining rooms and the interior decor is also built to USA standards (As a comparison in the USA, I used to work next door to a really nice brazilian churrascaria which charged about $45 a head during dinnertime. The bathrooms are fully automatic. What I mean is there are motion sensors galore. As you approach the door, it opens automatically. After you finish evacuating your bladder or bowels, the toilet flushes automatically. When you approach the sink and wash up, the water will turn on and off automatically. The paper towel dispenser will dispense paper automatically as you stand in front of it. Finally the door opens automatically as you return to the dining room. Ok, enough about the bathrooms... Correct me if I am wrong, this evening, there were about ten or twelve different types of meats impaled on thirty inch skewers that were constantly paraded to every table in the dining room. I was starting to get dizzy becuase the servers were offering the meats at such a fast rate. I sampled most of the meats and I can honestly say that : 1) make sure you go to this place with an empty stomach. 2) the different types of meats did taste like it was prepared and cooked in the states. 3) when you order the "rodizio", it includes all you can eat meat, all you can eat salad bar, all you can eat appetizer bar 4) the cost of the rodizio is about 9000 colones For desert, I shared a banana chocolate flavored crepe and vanilla ice cream and it tasted like if I was eating a top notch desert in the USA. I give Fogo Brazil a thumbs up for you meat lovers out there. |

Great post Hung-Lo, You pretty much covered everything and I also had the pleasure of dining there last weekend with Alpha Male and Party discrete and my son and his girlfriend and my new girlfriend as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and don't get too much salad or sides before they start bringing the meats. |
