Hola amigos,
We are creatures of habit, and more so as we age. Growing up my mom cooked spagetti on monday nights and as a creature of habit always try to eat spagetti every monday night. Shortly I leave for my annual 6 week winter getaway and hope to find a good american style spagetti restuarant. I have had spagetti in at least 10-15 resturants in CR and find that its not the same. The noodles are the same but the sauce is simply thin tomato pinkish paste with meatballs that so far havent tasted like what we have here. I like a good thick red meatsauce which is what is missing so far. I have tried many resturants including 2 hi class specialty Italian joints in Escazu. I have tried a bunch of the tico style joints, both cheap and hi class.. There is a resturant called the Spagetti House on the road to Guadalupe not far from the Vista Linda where I stay. Nice place with suited waiters serving about 20 types of spagetti but so far not good ol thick sauce american style. I have not tried the chains, ie, Pizza Hut ect but probably need to. My question amigos is do any of you know where we can get good thick american style spagetti exept here of course? Once we get this one out of the way I shall ask about where to find good ol NC style barbeque, well that may be pushing it a bit!!

I always get my pasta at the Balcon de Europa, down the hill from the DR. The spaghetti
sauce is thick and meaty the way I like it :)

A darn good place to eat, regardless of what you get. A very attentive chief who cares about his food..

Was there last night. Got the chefs special, fettuccinni with lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels. A bit too rich. The spaghetti and meatballs was good. Watch out for the aggressive panhandlers down that block and check out the patio next door at the New York bar.

Aside from just buying some at the Automercado, cooking it up and adding some Prego, I go to the Del Sol.
