This man speaks the truth! Our gang headed over there this past Monday after an amazing time at Oasis, and it's a wonderful, unique place, with great food and atmosphere. Avenida 2 somewhat near the Parque Nacional. Check it out!! |

Gentlemen, This place does ROCK! The food and atmosphere is amazing, and the staff there went out of their way to accomodate to some off-menu requests that we made for appetizers. Isn't it next to the Parque de Independencia? I thought that's what I kept hearing HornyBastid saying to the cabbies. Ruffnutz |

After consulting another wider area map, I think I can state with some confidence that it's actually near the Plaza Democracia, which puts in on Avenida 2 somewhere around Calle 13-15, a bit south and east of the main gulch area. Sorry for the confusion - definitely worth the visit! |

Nuestra Tierra = "Our Land" This 24 hour restaurant is located on Av. 2 between calles 13 and 15 as stated above. I wrote a review of this place last October after returning home from my first C.R. adventure. The food is excellent, although you'll pay slightly less for the same type of food at local sodas. I found the seating to be a bit uncomfortable, a bit like sitting at a picnic table. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. Aside from the uncomfortable seating, my only other complaints about this place would be the marimba players, flower sellers and others looking for the gringo cash. Others on this forum have commented on the flies, but I never noticed any the night we were there. Be sure to order coffee. They make the old fashioned Costa Rican way, pouring boiling water through the coffee in a little burlap bag, suspended from a small wooden stand over the cup. Coffee doesn't get any better. ![]() I'll go back there when I return to Costa Rica in late August, for sure. ![]() |

El C, Thanks for the confirmation. I thought the marimba players were cool, but a little too loud to talk over. Ruffnutz - sounds like you could have used some of that coffee at the time! |

Post subject: | Old Beatle Bar? |
If I recall from an earlier thread, this is the third incarnation of the Beatle Bar, unless Jaques had one earlier than the first one on Calle 9. I liked that place then, though I got mugged walking back to Barrio California one Sunday afternoon from there. As always, keep a sharp eye out. |

Quote: fresh fast inexpensive.....
Maybe fresh, maybe fast,....... but inexpensive ![]() ![]() Imperial 900 colones + 13% tax + 10% service = 1107 colones. More than the Blue Marlin. Gallo Pinto 1900 colones + 13% tax + 10% service = 2337 colones. For rice & beans.... can be had for about 500 colones at a local soda. Was there at at 12:30 PM. The place was packed with groups of tourist brought there on tour busses. This is an overpriced tourist trap in my opinion. |
