Do any of the restaurants or hotels in san jose have an elaborate sunday brunch between the hours of 10am-2pm? I'm looking for a vegas-style buffet set-up with omelet station, dessert station, champagne etc. where you can feast with your chica for a couple of hours. thanks for any help.

The Hotel Herradura used to have a Sunday brunch that was fantastic!
It was the best I've ever seen in San Jose. They even had live entertainment. I haven't been to the hotel in about four years, so I don't know if they still have it, but they probably do. It was rather expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. It was held in a nice setting...a large 'open-air' area near the pool and one of the bars, with lots of plants and a view of the mountains near Escazu/Santa Ana. The hotel is located
on the road from San Jose to the airport, near the Cariari.

Might also try the Intercontinental. They have a US style Sunday Brunch buffet.

If your on the main road in Escazu and your heading towards Santa Ana, you pass all the main restaurants which will be on your left, San Telmo, Inka Grill, La paninino the big plaza.. continue on about 1 mile it will be on your right hand side inside a very beautiful 5STAR RESORT. I have had dinner there and saw their brunch menu. Dinner was outstanding and everyone I spoke to regarding the brunch said it was top notch.

It is pricey as you are in a very exclusive area, but service and facilities 5 Star. I believe they also have an optional ala carte brunch for the lighter eater.

Enjoy. I'll get the CRT Gourmet to do a full write up soon.
