Great new high end restaurant catty corner from Taormina. Note: this is not a cargo shorts and flip flops kind of place. Worth checking out. Bar is on the second floor. The porkbelly is highly recommended If you know Don Rufino in La Fortuna, it's the same ownership and similar menu/prices. |

Too expensive for me, but great for that date with that cien or dos cien high end chica. But all good if you are a porn movie king with a beach house in Malibu. |

I ate here last weekend with one of my buddies. Expensive, fancy place but worth it for that special occasion or if you're in the mood to indulge. I was wearing a nice polo shirt and long khakis...with sneakers. Friend wore dark jeans and dark polo shirt. We got the 6 course chef / tasting menu. Dishes in the tasting menu change frequently we were told. They have an excellent selection of wines to go with your meal too. Crowd was a mix of tourists and well-dressed locals. There is a suited, professional looking security guard at the gate w/ a Secret service style earpiece. Reservation highly recommended. I don't think you can get in without one. Some dishes included: chicken pate w/ pink cotton candy topping potato croquette in some light cheese sauce apple filled churro & candied apple filled w/ caramel popcorn for dessert pork tenderloin Tuna tartar w/ bonito flakes |

Nice to have an option but I am not going to drop that kind of change in CR for food. Don't get me wrong I enjoy and can appreciate fine dining but with everything so overpriced in CR anyway, I would rather go to that type of resturant in the States, France, Italy, Spain, anywhere but CR. |

Yeah I hear you. I think I paid $60 USD for that 6 course meal, making it one of the most expensive meals I've had in CR to date. However, I live/work in the NYC metro area and a comparable meal like at the Silvestre would have cost double at least. It was our last night in CR and we figured we'd enjoy a memorable meal before heading back to the States. I was originally going to eat the Del Rey restaurant (which is always good) but we came across good reviews for Silvestre so decided to check it out. |

My fine dining recommendations are limited to La Esquina de Bs As, and Ancora in Barrio Escalante, |

La Esquina de Buenos Aires is usually the spot I go to for a nice dinner for birthdays, anniversary etc. I like the atmosphere and have never had a bad meal there. The sangria is very good but a little fruity for me, I prefer a nice Malbec or Cab with my dinner usually. Last trip there though, I wish I could remember the name of the vinyard, but I had a bottle of Chilean Zinfandel that was off the charts and only about $48.00. |
