Spent last week at the Mona Lisa and much to my surprise they finally have a restaurant. The new owner has 20 plus years of experience in San Jose and as far as I can tell he knows what he is doing. Took all of my meals there and never had a loser and from what I heard from the other patrons they also seemed really impressed. Last month when I stayed there I only had breakfast at the ML and a couple of days I went to the Dunn. Nice to finally have not just the convenience but to also have large menu, good quality, big portions and very reasonable prices all at my favorite place to stay.

I am staying at the Mona Lisa now and found the food and service very good, BTW I really like my room , for the money it is the best value in San Jose. IMHO

Tell us more about the new management. Are the regulars still there like Guy and Helmuth? Also, tell us more about the menu. Is this bringing in more people to the casino?
Thanks

Myself and three great guys that I met from Ohio ate at ML on Nov. 2nd. That was one of the best meals I've had in CR. We all ordered the steak and roasted potatoes and everyone raved on how good the food was, but not only that, the service was over the top. The waitress kept our drinks full and was very attentive. The manager threw in chips and a bean dip as a bonus. It is very good now.

Whitecat,
The casino isn't what it used to be. They have some slots and video poker right behind the bar and a small, glassed-in poker room next to it but no other table games.

The ML casino is almost DEAD - - - - - on life support.

The new casino at the Holiday Inn, just 3 blocks south of ML, is very nice and very active. Just watch your tabs there. Padding has been reported.

Thanks for the info, guys. I remember Mona had a decent breakfast, with SL performing above them, but it did the trick. Good to hear we have another option to eat.

I too was very skeptical of the restaurant. It had a bad reputation from poor food and service.
I ate there today food was excellent along with good service. Everyone knows once you
have a bad experience at a restaurant you never go back. But if today was an example.
I recommend you eat at the restaurant.
