There was a BBQ restaurant diagonally across from Amistad. I talk to a guy that was coming out and he said he was looking for a cook and would be open soon. It was closed my last trip in Aug. 2013. Was wondering is it open now? Thanks

I've eaten there a couple of times, the name of the place is Flor de Otoya, it opened in late May. They do rotissiere chicken cooked over wood + usual local dishes-casado plates, chifrijo etc. The food was good & cheap, about $6 for the meal which included a juice drink. Open til 6pm so it's a good spot for lunch.

I ate there a few trips ago when they first opened . They didn't have any ice or beer at the time . Do they have ice now and sell beer yet?

When I ate there a few weeks ago they didn't have any sort of liquor license so no on the beer, as for ice, they didn't put any in my refresco but it was plenty cold.

Rico123 and I met the Cubana owner and tried their chifrijo. It was a decent price and tasted OK.

Note: The BEST chifrijo in CR, and I have been sampling it all over the country for a few years now, is ALWAYS cooked "La Lena." Which means on an open fire usually with coffee wood. It always gives the best flavor to the roasted pork.

Anyone taking a tour up to the Volcano Poas should stop at any of the Tico places in route. Try one of my favorite sodas in ALL of CR. "Rancho de Sabor" in Fraijanes......

Ya got any recc's for good chifrijo in the gulch or close to it. I've tried it @ the Morazán, Chubb's, Dunn Inn, & a place in mercado central. Always looking for better, without headin to the hills to find it.

If any of you Bros are a friend of the house, you might advise them to start a FB page--I couldn't find anything anywhere and FB is cheap advertising. Just sayin'...
