There is a new sports bar restaurante in the gulch. It's called Chubbs. Plently of TV's, a relatively nice environment and decent alcohol prices.

My first food order was the worst I have ever had.

I ordered the Nachos. I received a big plate. The chips was covered by cheap liquid cheese, lots of natilla (Costa Rican sour cream), some chopped veggies and aguacate. But for my $6 plus dollars, what I got was a plate full of white corn tortilla chips.

It is the most disappointing meal I have ever purchased here.

I have eaten there a few times now and the food was great. Never had the nachos but the sandwiches are some of the best in SJ for the price. They actually put meat in them not just the usual 2 slices. For 3k I get a real sandwich the way I like it.

I was in this week and my friend had the nachos. It was huge and she could not finish looked and tasted great. I had chilli cheese fries. Not on the menu but was great just what I needed for a taste from home. I try to get down there once a week when I am craving american eats. Plus I like that it is right next door to the desert store HDR.

I watched the football games there last Sunday. It's a great place. Two of the bartenders worked at the DR for many years, Jessica and Christina. I had a sandwich and the chicken fingers, which were both excellent. BTW, Christina makes great Bloody Marys!

I thought about trying those when I saw them on the Specials board. I guess they are made from turkey, mashed potatoes, etc. My next trip I might try them.

I don't understand why a bar that will be catering mostly to Americans does not have a web site with their food and drink menu listed so we can look at it before arriving in country or while we are in the hotel room using laptops looking for a place for lunch or dinner. The LA did it and it gets you thinking about being a customer.

I hear you talking Brother LaredoKid but first things first--let's get them as a Sponsor so we get cheaper booze/ eats...or did I miss the notice?

What a shame Jessica and Christina got fired from the DR. Jessica was there 14 years! It's hard to believe Christina is almost 40! And, five offspring, and she's a grandmother! Damn, she still looks hot!

So Chubbs is a dog from the picture of the bar that I have seen . I'll have to pass on the canine jewels. It's just the thought that bothers me, I would rather die  They might want to re-think the name of that food product.

Of course I might just buy a plate and pass it around for laughs  and see who bites ! You know who you are 8)

I've got a couple of nice photos of Christina somewhere on my external hard drive. Nothing other than a nice photo of her at the bar back about 7 years ago. She asked me to take on of her, so she could show her K*ds how hot she was one day... Just a portrait. Always liked her. Hopefully, she and/ or Jessica work on Monday nights. Will probably drop by SJ for a night on the way back from Nicaragua next week...

Stopped into Chubbs for the second half of the Jets - Pats game :( Christina was working the bar. Ordered the buffalo wings which were quite big...and decent enough for 4000 colones. Imperials were 1000 each. Place was pretty empty...just a few guys in Bronco jerseys and some other gringo flotsam and jetsam. They had all 4 4pm games on...all in all an OK place to watch sports...no chicas trabajando btw...
