Went there with Soflaguy during Labor Day week. We got there just as the place opened at 6:00. Nice ribhouse ambiance. We sat at our table and they have a huge projection screen playing music videos from the past such as Led Zeppelin, Scorpions and other heavy metal tuneage which I liked. Ok, ok they did play one Air Supply song. lol. The menu was on the expensive side as we ordered the full rack of baby back ribs at a cost of $36 each. We both were a little nervous about the quality and the price. But I have to admit the ribs were outstanding. Actually a rack and a half. Lotta food. Next time we will order 1/2 rack. The ribs are imported from St. Louis. I highly recommend JR's Ribs.

I always liked JR's ribs. I know some guys have gotten sick on a few of the sides, but I always enjoyed the meal. I've felt stuffed, but never "sick."

At $36 for a rack of ribs, I must say that things have gotten very expensive in the gulch... probably more expensive than most places I know that serve ribs in the States. Thanks, for the update.

I've always had a great meal at JRs but I quit going when I read about some folks getting sick from the cole slaw.

Jesus Christ; waaaay to much for a rack od ribs; we are not talking Maine lobster, or prime filet mignon, for christs sakes - I just went to Shorty's, a famous BBQ place in S FL and paid $17 for a full rack of baby back ribs - less than half   of what JR charges - don't look for me there.

What is ironic is the pork (vs the beef) in CR is not that bad - gotta believe a big price factor is the importation, but regardless, that price is stupid - especially for a place with "issues" about their cole slaw - it would really piss me off royally to pay $36 for ribs and get sick - insult to <pricing> injury :)

The problem with JR's cole slaw is that is mayonnaise-based and left unrefrigerated for long times. Guaranteed way to turn it toxic. Solution: bring your own vinegar-based 'slaw and endure ludicrous pricing without complaint.

I haven't been to JRs for a few years, but used to go quite regularly. I think that now the best rib place around is another high end place in Multi centro Paco Escazu. It is called the M+S smoke house. I'm a pretty good eater but a half-rack is certainly enough for me.

I second the emotion that $36 is too much for a rack of ribs ... JR's or anyone elses.

I was there a few years ago and thought it to be so so ... I'm a sauce guy and ribs with a good sauce are dynamite.

JR's sauce was uninspiring to poor .... not much better then just ketchup

I personally think J.R. Ribs is a fair price compared to some of the other places. Try eating at Denny's and getting that $3.99 grand slam.

Uh, let me see....$3.99 vs $37

Sorry 'Dogg, but what the Phuck are you trying to say - plus its not a great comparison - all posters are saying is $37 for an order of ribs is a little steep -in NYC, Chicago, and certainly San Jose
