I see lots of lunch and supper places, but where are some great places for breakfast? And not that Gallo Pinto crap! CR is the only Latin country I won't eat rice and beans. I guess I am spoiled on Cuban and Puerto Rican varieties that have flavor. I like to eat big breakfasts and would like some suggestions. Thanx |

SL has a decent breakfast....Bar Poas too but you can't order it during breakfast hours because it doesn't open until noon. |

Thanx If you want a big breakfast but not any CR gallo pinto, then the Del Mar buffet is your best best. $10, lots of items, eat all you want. Me, I usually go to a Mus Manni and load up on ham'n'cheese croissants, empanadas and fruit pastries, can get quite a lot for under 3000 colones. ![]() |

I always liked the Presedent'/News Cafe for breakfast. Where is everyone going to hang out in the morning these days? |

Rolleratnight There are three posts on this thread for the best american breakfest as being at the Del Mar. Have you tried it? You should not need a map? The News Cafe is open for breakfest, but you don't get to mingle with the street monkies anymore. Musmannis are all over SJ. You should take a walk to find the one you like |

Oh, I am going to Del Mar for breakfast. I wanted to eat lunch at News Cafe, but there were gates closing it off and it was dark. How do get to it if it is all closed? I just couldn't find that bakery in the Gulch. But, I am not I am going to go all over San Jose looking for one. If I come across one then I will hit it. I was just walking around and didn't see it near Presidente. Thanks, and I will let you know how Del Mar is. Seahawk wrote: Rolleratnight

The News Cafe is permanently closed now, so you can't enter it at all. There used to be a Musmanni on Ave Central just before the Presidente, but on my last trip in March '10 it was closed and I think it's something else now. The next closest one is on the corner of Ave 3 and Calle 3, one block west from Parque Morazan. In the same intersection is the Auto Mercado. |
