There is a new executive lunch at Bar Malibu, around the corner from Bar Poas and Hotel Santo Tomas. The place is owned by a Cuban named, Raul and his wife. They have great Ropa Vieja, Oxtail, bocas, and mixed drinks. The lunch goes for 2200 colones ($4.40) includes soup, main plate, refresco natural, and sometimes a small postre. |

Sorry, where exactly is Bar Malibu? I'm sure I must have walked right by it and not seen it. Is it towards Soda Peru? Thanks. |

Bar Malibu is next door to the lesbian/neighborhood bar Marinita's (spelling?) off of Avienda 7 on the calle (0?) that runs North out of San Jose. It is just uphill from the Secret Mansion / Speakeasy's Cuban owned. Good Food. Slow Service. Shanty decor. Good prices. Cucarachas galore. It is not everyone's cup of tea. At night they have two menus - bocas and full meal. I have yet to try their lunch special, but their food is good. |
