Post subject:  excellent meal

I went there as a guest of a lady friend - non working girl - who entertains her real estate clients there. First class food - the pork specialty is probably the best I ever had. Service is impeccable - never an empty water glass or bread basket.

Best surprise came at the end when the bill for 4 was under 80.00 US. But we did not have drinks, of course, just coffee.

Can NOT go wrong with this one, guys. Best meal I have had outside of Paris!!

Great atmosphere, too.

HWE8083 - see you guys thanksgiving weekend

General directions are:
Carretera vieja Escazu-Santa Ana
Centro Paco

It's okay, I guess. I'm not a big fan. I think some of the following are some good Italian bets:

Baccus-Santa Ana
Cafe Mediterraneo (Rohrmoser): I think that's the name, very affordable
Di Bartlo (Escazu): pricey, but good stuff
Tutti Li (Plaza Itzkatzu-Escazu)
Ponte Vecchio (San Pedro)
La Fabricca (San Pedro) only been there once and it was okay
Sale & Peppe (Escazu)
Il Pomodoro (San Pedro & Escazu) not a big fan but it's popular
Pan & Vino(various) known for its pizza, but is has really good pasta too

I live next door and have been there a ton of times.
Ambiance - Great
Prices - Great
Service - Great
Food - Awful

Everythings good except the food! Too bad that the only spot in town (grocery or restaurant) where you can get Mozzarella and Ricotta not made locally is at Price-mart. A sad state of affairs when my College Baked Ziti is the best in town.

Elusive,
Since it sounds like you live in Escazu, you may want to check out Cafe Torino. Their deli has imported mozzarella, including authentic buffalo mozzarella from time to time. Pricey, but good.

Torinos is great. Though the prices are sky high, Boars Head, Nathans franks, etc. Too bad the sandwiches are tiny. They used to carry Thomas's English Muffins as well.

No one's mentioned Antonio's, between the Hotel Heradurra and Cariari. I've been there a few times and I think it's quite good. I know Gman's been there, and I assume a few other members have been there as well.
