Nhhank: That was horrible..I really felt bad about recommending it after it turned out to be such a disaster...at least BKtuna liked the sausage. I hope they can unscrew things over there b/c when they have the ribs and the grill going, it is really a good deal. CH |

Yeah yeah--France, Virginia--it's a little south of Richmond (or is it a little north?--I'm so easily confused.) That French pedicure--they suck your toes to moisten them. Oh baby! |

Post subject: | Las Palmas! |
I am a crusader for Hotel Castillo, however even though a very good friend of mine happens to be the owner of Las Palmas. They always seem to need improvement even after some time of serving turist as well as locals for more than a year? The service is hit or miss at best in the afternoons and on sundays. I have observed the the best quality of service in the retaurant is on the daily menu "Plata del Dia" when they cater to the INS employeees who seem to pontificate politics and poster over libations. They remind me of mail room clerks eating and entertaining like executives on a mail clerk salario. Prolly cant find more than five of them that have a monthly salary of more than 300 to 400 dollas. I have found that if you get past the front line servers and on to the Mgr or the owner you can probably get better service in da future if you choose to even return. I have a love hate with the restaurant since 2005 and serveral owners later. The same. The services and food of the restaurant in no way should be a reflection on the fine services of Hotel! 25 + 25 = 50 ![]() |

I read somewhere on CRT that chicas were being allowed back into the Las Palmas Restaurant. Can anyone confirm or deny this? |

Posted this similiar commentatry in another thread under this topic, but wanted to atleast put my commentary specifically under this one as it speaks to Las Palmas specifically. Las Palmas .... Excellent Chilean cuisine (Try the Sea Bass) have been there several times do to convenience and it is a different atmosphere ... However a few times the service was very underwhelming as my party had to wait...and wait...and wait ... one time...to the point where we were ready to leave...found out that they had a new waitress that night that screwed up every order in the party and we were ready to leave without the serving of our entree .... I believe I got slightly worked over by the bald "Yul Brynner" looking guy servicing the table as for some reason through the fiasco there had to be a manual check in colones because the printer or something was broke (surprise, surprise) and when I was giving it the very quick once over as I just couldnt sit in there any longer ... I asked for a quick conversation rate and I believed he padded me a bit to make up for the lack of gratuity he knew they didn't deserve. It wasn't anything earth shattering but just insult to injury for the experience. I knew better but thats what I get for being annoyed, being in a rush and just saying screw it. l seriously contemplated taking them off my dining list, but I did have a history of good meals with them so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned once since the horrific experience which again didn't set any land speed records but I was there with fine company and not in a rush. Good Food ... Service hit or miss. I concurr with others that the service level can stand an upgrade which is a shame because it takes away from what I believe is good food. |

The "BBQ" this last Sunday was on the high side of OK. I put it in quotes as it wasn't a BBQ as most of us would think of it. However 2 choices of meat, a nice small salad, generous size baked potato--a full bar most of whom enjoyed a plate. A good Sunday afternoon "hang". |
