Arte & Gusto Restaurant is located diagonally across from HLH.

It's a French style menu and is excellent...We have eaten there a number of times both for lunch and dinner and have had no complaints.

Their pricing is fair and the staff is very professional

Always good to hear of another fine dining option--this one had no previous mention. Now we'll have to put Senior Brother Admin1 on the job, recruiting them as a Sponsor--discounts stir my soul no end.

It used to be the gallery in the blue and white building that I always use as a landmark to indicate Calle 3bis, the turnoff to ZB/HLH. Now it's a restaurant? Sounds way too fancy for my tastes. :P

Wonder if they have rabbit on the menu.

No rabbit but they do have duck. They have choices from about 5000 colones to 15000 colones. Figure after a couple of drinks and dessert about $25-$50 a person. Worth it. French wines, I had the chicken shish kabob good desserts. The menu offers about 6 fish choices, 4 steak choices, some pork and chicken choices and of course, the duck.

Oui, Oui.

It is a little more pricey than most but the food and service are worth the extra few dollars.

After all, you're spending upwards of $150 per day to enjoy your vacation you may as well have a decent dining experience along with the burgers and fries

Exactly. Plus it's so handy from all our favorite hotels and other types of venues.
One question--When they first opened, they didn't take credit cards. Has that changed?

Still no credit cards acceptance nor will there be soon.
Had lunch there yesterday--a French restaurant but I had that most unFrench dish, chile con carne. An appetizer, the entree and a muffin for dessert plus a glass of wine all for < $10. Wines are B&G, Concha y Toro, that quality, plus they have a full but limited spirits selection. Non-smoking section available in the back.

They are pricey, but can't attest to the quality of the food; the group of guys I went in there with took one look at the menu prices and voted to hit the road. :) The whole credit /debit card use in CR is problematic, I think they is a lot of number selling that goes on down there. 8) 8)
