I like empanadas too. They are a great street snack. If I'm out and about and I find myself a little hungry between meals I like to pop into a panaderia and buy a couple empanadas. You can eat them while you walk. The Costaricans fill them with anything and everything. From savory meats to sweets for desert.

Mmmm. I'm getting hungry!

It's too bad the author didn't give a more specific location for the place mentioned in the article.

Si does anyone know exact location? Brother Easy took me to another good place once next door to Princessa Marina, forget the name but they are cooked when you order so you have to wait a few minutes and the te frio was great as well.

You might try Cafe de Posada adjacent Posada del Museo--run by Argentines.
Location--9`55'53" N by 84`4'15" or Calle 17 between Avenida 2 y 4

i don't know if they sell them on the street in the city. But we have some great ones for sale here. One lady in particular always is on her bike with a load. The bean and chicharone is really exceptional.

When I do my morning walk, I stop at a stand called, Pupasas. They have warm, good chicken, beef, pork or potato empanadas. Their coffee is good. It's an old-fashioned stand, you can either eat at the window or take it to Morazon Park to eat.

The pupasa is like pita bread stuffed with a bean mxture, shredded cabbage, tomato and more. It makes a nice snack.

The stand has been at its location since 1995. I was a student here when it opened. It's located on Avenida 2, on the same side of the street as the Del Rey. Go from the corner of Del Ray, walk west two & 1/2 blocks (passing the Morazon Hotel, then an old deserted building that was the french embassy). It is painted white and blue, and located adjacent to a parking lot.

If it's on the same Avenida as the DelRey, then it's Avenida 1, not 2

Try take out, (they will deliver to DR area)
Empanadas Colombianas
Don Omar
PH# 22 80 28 73
In Guadalupe
Minimum order of 20 for delivery.
Year ago they were 200 Colonies each.
Choise of Beef, Chicken and Pork. They were all excellent. Included will be Picante Salsa. Allow 1 to 2 hours for delivery.

Midle age gentleman delivered them on a motorcycle, IN THE RAIN! to the Monkey Bar. I had a bartender order them, I dont think they speak English. For 7000 Colones with tip, it was enough for 5 of us (2 bartenders, 2 chicas and me)
