I forgot to report on this restaurant. I had the opportunity to try a number of the recommended places like Costa Del Sol, Mariscar, etc. Not too bad.

But I wanted something different. I happened to walk by this place called Don Wang, it is right beside Tin Jo (close to Idem & Eros). This place had REAL Chinese food, not all of that stuff they feed non-Asians. The food was actually quite good. The prices were average for what you would pay for the same in Canada & the States. Dim Sum was good and their duck was just like what you would get in Chinatown.

Good alternative to the usual. I would give it two thumbs up. Getting the bill always took way too long, but otherwise, the food was fantastic.

By the way, a good hint to tell if it is a real Chinese restaurant --> Is the restaurant filled with Chinese people ? If not, it's not the real deal. It also helps if the cooks are actually Chinese.

I agree that the restaurant is pretty good. Being asian, I did enjoy the food there. I also recommend Ting Jo which is right next door. They have great spring rolls and they have a variety of asian food to offer. Plus, it's almost just about 1/4 block away from IDEM!! However, my favorite place to eat Chinese food is Wong's Restaurant which is located on Avenida 1 about 1 block away from the downtown bus stop next to Avenida Central.

The Dim sum there is pretty good and you can even get chicken feet and black egg soup if you like that. Prices are decent and they have an all yo can eat buffet for 1500 colones. It's open til 2am and sometimes late at night you can play majong with the local chinese people for money
