We need to have some NJ diner owners come down here and join up--they can sniff'em out in a heartbeat. |

Are the vast majority of diners in So. Jersey still owned by Greeks? that was true when I lived there some 30 years ago. Talking about diners I heard Olga's closed up. True? That was a landmark on the road to the shore. Ah the memories. |

![]() Well, the pizza might be Greek-style (all I know that it's different), but orherwise they have spaghetti, lasagna, salds, and ham&cheese sandwiches. Don't think that's what Thirdworld has in mind. ![]() |

Memo to Brother ID: Yes, the majority of SJ diners are Greek operated (the one I go to, The Whitman Diner on RTE. 42, Washington Township, has 3 gens of the same family working in it--the 2 youngest gens speak fluent Spanish); and yes Olga's has finally closed for good (some adventures there mainly tax-based)--it is/ was are on the rte 70/73 Circle which isn't really a circle anymore and is in a fast-paced upscale area. Their time had passed. The beginning of the end for me was the closing of Garden State Racetrack. And before that the closing of the Latin Casino, famously the place where Jackie Wilson had a heart attack on stage while singing (appropriately enough) "Lonely Teardrops". The other killer version of that song is Michael McDonald's '91 version on the NY Rock&Soul Revue CD. Back to you, Chet. |

Really did not bother me when the Latin Casino closed. But, the closing of Garden State was a bummer. I only lived 10 minutes from there and use to enjoy going a couple of days each session. Here are a couple of pictures to help relive those times. http://gallery.pictopia.com/philly/gall ... 00805/?o=3 http://gallery.pictopia.com/philly/gall ... 00812/?o=1 http://gallery.pictopia.com/philly/gall ... 00814/?o=1 |

Closest thing to getting Greek in San Jose is going to the Italian place in Escazu, a few meters from the Atlantis Plaza, bend over and pull your pants down when the bill arrives. Or you could go to Club Hollywood and get the same Greek treatment there. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Adoro comer en la atras tienda...(just check my avatar!) Never run across any real Greek food. Overlooking Avenida Central there is a decent Lebanese-style soda next to the sushi place.... Pura Vida EdB |

There are several good Lebanese places. There is one at the food court on Av Central one block from the DR. Also Beirut Restauratn in Sabana Sur is good. There is an excellent small Turkish place on the way to San Pedro, It is about 4 blocks North of the Bagelmans on the right hand side. BKTUNA/Boyd I am never going home |
