I have a neighbor who is Lebanese, He says the best middle eastern food is served at Lubans which is on Paseo Colon 50 meters west of the hospital de niños.

Greek food can be tricky, as the quality of your experience is largely dependent on the quality and standards of the restaurant. For example, my favorite Greek dish is Besos Negrokis, a raw fleshy starfish usually served on a warm bun. When cleaned and prepared in accordance with high culinary standards, it can be delightful - a little tart, but a true joy to experience. It generally has no scent, but a faint earthy or flower-like aroma is generally considered acceptable. Lapping up a healthy portion of this fine Greek dish will elicit a wide smile - and maybe a giggle or two - from your waitress. Most respectable Greek waitresses will suggest Besos Negrokis stuffed with sausage for a nominal additional price. But be careful where you partake of Besos Negrokis - order it from the wrong place and it can smell awful, go down badly, and really taste like shit.

I was looking for a Greek restaurant and found this place called Sofía Mediterráneo. It's in Barrio Escalante, on calle 33, which has several blocks full of restaurants and pubs.

It's a small to medium size restaurant with great ambience, decor and lowered lighting. There are tables for two on one side where you could have dinner with a date with a bit of privacy.

Menu is limited but still diverse. Many different lamb dishes to choose from. I actually had the Sicilian Tuna - grilled premium fresh tuna steak on a bed of fennel and red onion. It came on a large plate with salad and fried potatoes. Cost 7200. It was very good. I also had a glass of Merlot, and the table service included a large vase of fresh cold water. All together a very satisfactory outing.

Holy crap, resurrecting a 12 year old thread. Kudos for searching to post an update from way back when. I will be back in late October so I will check it out due to your recommendation. Thanks
