Bubba's is great for fish tacos. So huge, one's enough. Right across the street from Oz Hotel.

Also, as GR pointed out, Soda Rustico serves up a great, and cheap, breakfast. Ashford Jackson and I checked it out the last time I was down and it was wonderful. It was a good thing that it's on the south side of Jaco, because, after that meal, we needed to walk it off.

Rustico is the shit. I eat there all the time. For healthy fare, there is a place called the Wok, which has stir fry with rice of noodles. Light, but filling. I'm watching a little hotel on the south end of the beach and have been eating at a Tico joint called El Tigre something. Beers are like 900 and great food at a reasonable price. Had some really good chicharones yesterday. A new item on the Poseidon menu I had the other night was ribs. They are using a 5 spice asian sauce and there are super. Hotel and bar OZ have some really good bar food on their menu. And they just added a pool and pool bar, with a beach and chairs.. Place could have potential if some chicas were to hang out there.

Actually Thirdworld stimulated a question--How do the Chicas know they are welcome to a venue? Especially when there's a change of policy? Folks working there? Keep trying to get in until they succeed? Somebody in Management calling Dial-a-Chica and saying "Come on down"? I mean it only takes 1 or 2 Chicas being allowed before the word gets around like wildfire in a small town like Jaco.

To the best of my knowledge, even though they don't promote it as a bar with chicas, I don't think there is a problem with them coming in if they want to. I've seen girls in the inside bar in the past, they are just few and far between. Was talking to a chica the other day about the need and market for daytime action in Jaco. Mentioned the possibility of her getting a big house with pool, and doing a makeshift mp or just place for guys to get some daytime action.

#1 The resturant at the HOTEL POSEIDON has the BEST Tuna Steaks in the world. I would go to Jaco just for this TUNA STEAK!! It's that good.

#2 Taco Bar for Killer Fish Tacos.

Warning both of these places are addictive.

Yep, that tuna steak is incredible. They have a 2 x 1 special going nightly between 5-7 and it will probably extend through the month of September. Also, try the 5 spice Asian ribs and the lamb chops. Also, I am hearing very good reviews of the restaurant Lemon Zest. A bit out of my price range but have tried the duck and it is off the charts. A new place that is worth checking out is Bamboosa, which is right next door to Poseidon. It was created by the owner of Tsunami and features Asian food. The prices are very reasonable...

Post subject:  Jaco Tacos -- GROSS!

I have to respectfully disagree with the prior poster who recommended Jaco Tacos. I was visiting Jaco about a year ago, ordered a burrito there and the cheese tasted totally rancid! It was also totally overpriced as I recall paying close to 4000 colones. The chicken empanada I got down the street from the supermercado was tastier at about 1/8 the cost. I didn't stay in Jaco long enough to find a restaurant I would wholeheartedly recommend, but I can advise you to avoid this place at all costs!

The location is really great, but it's not cheap for what they offer.

Taco Bar is one of my favorites as well, the salad bar is really good. The 1 liter smoothies are delicious, too. This is their website: http://tacobar.info

We just got a NY style pizza place by the slice. Now, i'm no New Yorker, but several people from there have given thumbs up. I had a slice the other day and enjoyed it. Gonna have to try the meatball sub soon. You are right on Claritas, food is not very good for the price. And the staff has an attitude like their shit don't stink... And the best chica working there is a 6 at best. All the oldtimers and local crowd got tired of it and moved camp to Jaco Taco. I've been broke lately so have been hitting all budget spots and Tico places. And what I've found, for me , is that it is a waste of my money to be spending $20 plus on meals when I can get better and cheaper at my Tico spots.

Jaco Taco is just nasty. I tried to eat a cheeseburger that was horrible. My wingman couldn't get through his taco. The only thing to recommend it is that it's open late? Pass this one up.

Let me add the steaks were pretty bad as well. What you hear about the beef in CR appears to be true, at least on my trip.

The food at Calichies wishbone is good it's just getting to expensive for me but I still hit the place at least once when I am there. I crave the spicy tuna bowl with sticky rice. It has scallions , avocado. tuna, spinach with a soy Wassabi sauce.

Thirdworld what is the name of the little Tico place just 1 block north of the beatle bar?

The building is yellow and has a little Jukebox in the back you make a left toward the beach one block north of the BB and its one building up from the main strip on the right its not fancy lol but it has a full bar a few hooker hanging around and its the best cheapest food I have found in Jaco I think the most expensive thing on the menu was 2000 colones. They always treat me good there.

I think the place you might be talking about is Isaga.... With the economy the way it is I have been using all the cheap places the last six months. As I said before, I think a lot of you guys would love the Tico atmosphere at El Paso del Tigre in the south end of Jaco. Cheap and good if you like traditional stuff like chicharones, sopa de mariscos, ceviche, and whole red snapper.
