Thanks !

I don’t recall seeing anyplace that deep fries shrimp. Maybe Denny’s.

The only time I have seen shrimp served it has been sautéd in garlic and butter or mixed in with some other part of the meal.

Perhaps those who eat out more often have been information.

My two favorites are... Soda Peru, right up the street from HLH, you can get many types of seafood deep fried there. The restaurant (can't remember the name) right next to Hotel Balmoral (sp) has an excelent fried shrimp platter. I also like the shrimp at SL, but there I would rather have the shrimp fettecini alfredo.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the sportsman since I'll be going there anyway. Now I just need to find out if they have tartar sauce to go with it.

I Second that. I've had the deep fried shrimp on the SL menu at least a dozen times. Very..Very good and reasonably priced too.

Yes they do but they only give you a small container of it so you'll have to ask for extra.

Delicias del Peru has great home made tartar sauce. Try the freshly hand breaded fried calamari too.

One of the most under discussed places that I frequent is out near Curridabat- it's called "El Balcon De Los Mariscos"... it's got Tico Prices and all the food is excellent all the time. It's always usually crowded with upper class Ticos from everywhere, very few Gringo know about this place.

It is pretty good. Very local. Few Gringos live on the east side.
