Bar La Tranca (Pilsen Logo Sign)

This place is up about 30 minutes above San Jose, about 3-4 miles past the small town of Aserri. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of meat (Cerdo, Chorizo, Bistec), a maduro charbroiled with butter, a la lena and parrillada style place. Wooden floors, chairs and overlooks much of the east end of San Jose. I took 3 chicas along and we have a bill of only 27,000 colones for all a large plate of 4 pieces of each type of meat, papas, tortillas, and refrescas naturales, and couple cervezas and we took food back.

They told me a great place to bang at night out seeing all the lights of San Jose below in the open air when they were younger...... the type every town with hills has such a place to go when you are young and cannot afford a hotel room.

Anyway.

C 27,000 is not a bad price for four people. The price for a similar meal for 4 at Mirador Ram Luna cost me C 42,000. There are several restaurants around Aserri with excellent views of the Central Valley. It would be fun to try them all! An afternoon trip to Aserri with a favorita followed by dinner at one of these places is a nice diversion from the SJ and the gulch.
