Colonial Casino. The restaurant can be pricey (for gringos). They have 2 menus, English and Spanish. On the English menu, the prices are doubled. |

So at the Colonial Casino, can you ask for the Spanish menu and get Tico prices, even if you're obviously a Gringo? Or do they deny its existence? Knowing this kind of stuff puts us 1 up on the casual or "package" tourist, doesn't it? Thanks for the tip, Brother Orange. |

https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16981 Can anyone confirm that they still have the 2 different menus, tico and gringo? The above link is a little outdated at almost 1.5 years old, I'd be interested to hear what the current situation is there. SK |

To the best of my recollection, there was never an English and a Spanish menu. I could be wrong, but I think what is being referred to here is that there "used to be" a bar menu and a regular menu. The bar menu which was available even in the diningroom had the same items on it but at half the price. Unless you asked for the bar menu it wasn't offered. This bar menu hasn't been available for quite some time now. Upstairs with the TVs they have a limited menu at the tables but there is no bargain with it.You can also order most items off the full menu. |

From my experience the Colonial is a RIP-OFF. I won’t go in there because: 1. I was deceived and cheated there 2. Many several guys have told me stories of being bamboozled one way or another at the Colonial This is about them doing a switcheroo on Gringos. With so many other places to go why would you even bother with a place that has a reputation for duping Gringo customers. |
