Pilsen RED. Has anyone tried Pilsen RED? What do you think?

I like it. It has a stronger flavor mainly because it has a much higher alcohol content than other beers. It has 6% while rock ice has 5% and the others are between 4 and 5%. More bang for the buck.

Zman Is it more like and ale? I note that Bud has brought out a new ale. I wonder if this is a similar product.

It is my understanding that the Budweiser corporation, even though it is not American owned company anymore, is a major stakeholder in Florida Farm and Ice. By inference, prehaps they are using the same market strategy here as they are in the US.

I plan to crack open a couple tonight while watching Monday Night Football. Go Los Angeles Rams, oh they moved; Go Los Angeles Raiders, oh they moved too.

Oh what the heck, I moved from LA too. Pilsen anyone?

Pilsen Red is 5.1%. The old Pilsen with a red label was 6% but it is not made anymore. Regular Pilsen is 5% and is close to a canadian beer in flavour and is the same strength.

It is sort of like a bock beer and is ordered by very few people. My bar sells one or two bottles every couple of days and basically does not carry any stock. I personally do not like it. The beer rep told me it is a coloured product, the product was changed (lower alcohol and same name so the brewery could sell more beer).

Thanks for your opinion. Which Canadian beer? Molsons?

I was just sitting down to watch Monday night football and sip my Pilsen RED when a torent of rain caused one of my neighbor's trees to fall across the power lines. No football but beer by candle light. It is okay: both the beer and drinking it by candle light.

When pilsen red first came out it was 6% maybe they changed it, I will look at a bottle today.

It is a lager type beer with a high alcohol content. This gives it a stronger flavor that some people like and some do not. They also probably added more hops to match the added malt.

The Pilsen Red that was sold 1 year ago had 6% alcohol. The Pilsen Red that is on the shelves at the supermarkets now has a normal alcohol percentage.

I love it, it has more flavor than the regular Pilsen or Imperial.

It's crazy how the national brewery keeps bringing out limited production beers that are infinitely better than their usual ones, and then they run out and it's back to same old for another few months.

Case in point: Bavaria Oktoberfest. Great beer which will probably only be sold for another 4-5 weeks before it becomes a distant memory :(
