Finding good pizza around San Jose is a daunting task. NEVER eat at the Pizza Hut on Paseo Colon for example. They have no CLUE what pizza should taste like. I'm looking for just a normal but decent olive and onion pizza with black olives (yes, the Pizza Hut above actually put green ones on there)! |

The cab will run out of gas before you find a good pizza. |

Many people have commented that the Garden's had good pizza. I don't know if this is still so, being that it has just changed hands. |

Just as you will find in a city in the United States everyone has a favorite, When I worked in Philadelphia it was Big Al's on Oregon Avenue. In Miami Marinos on N. Kendall and 137 ave. In San Jose I think Costa del Sol and the other place 2 or 3 stores west of CdS are the best. However neither is as good as in the states. YMMV ![]() |

Yeah......opinions about good pizza vary. Personally, I don't like the pizza at Costa Del Sol or anywhere else in Costa Rica. When I get pizza in San Jose.....I always go to Pizza Hut on Central Avenida. ![]() On second thought.....I do like the pizza at CAFE MUNDO as well. ![]() |

I don't mind the pizza in SJ at all. Of course, I'm not a pizza snob. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() I agree Hiker Tom, I'm not in San Jose for expensive restaurants. I've yet to find one there that was really worth it. Often I just eat at Taco Bell or grab some pizza, or another good place for cheap eats if you don't mind vegetarian is Vishnu behind the Gran Hotel de Costa Rica (next street back on the north side of the street). I think I had the pizza at Pizza Hut on Ave. Central once and it was okay; but the one out on Paseo Colon was horrible. I may try Akropolis as you mentioned. I'll try Costa Del Sol, I'll try that. Im just looking for "good", not great. Seems like someone could make a go of a good New York or Chicago Style pizzeria in San Jose... But maybe it's a problem finding the right kind of cheese? I'm sure it could be done... Though I doubt Ticos would pay around $20 for a large like they do here in So Cal. |

Years ago the best pizza in San Jose was at Mr. Pizza. Mr Pizza was located on the NW corner of avenida 1 & calle 9 in an old converted house. It is now the HDR parking lot. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So: In that thread nor this thread, no one said where Costa Del Sol is located! Can someone help me out with that please? |

It's on Central Avenida. Walk one block down the hill from the Del Rey to Central Avenida. Turn left and walk about 50 yards and you'll be right there. Costa Del Sol is a couple of doors down from the Hamburgesa Factory. |

Costa del Sol is located on avenida central between calle 9 and 11. When you leave the HDR go south (down the hill) one block, turn left and CdS is on the south side of the street about half way down the block. Two or three stores before CdS is another pizza place. Both are pretty good. Both have pizza counters in the front. |
