Last Friday I was sitting down for lunch at the SL with Joker33 and I remembered what a Crt bro from Penn. said if you want great food try this place right around the corner called Cafe Mundo. Long story short the food was excellent, the service perfect, price modest for what we had. 2 filets, potatos, stir fry vegies, drink, pecan pie ice cream. the works inc. tip was 15 mil each. a lot for lunch but that was it for me till breakfast. Went back Saturday night with some friends and the same thing everyone was happy. If you havent tried Cafe Mundo yet give it a try. |

Yeah.....I like Cafe Mundo as well. I ate there twice last week. I usually get the grilled chicken breast salad with eggplant.....excellent. Anything you get there is good. Appears they are expanding the place again; construction going on along the side of the building. Zebra |

In addition to the items that Cracker and Zebra mentioned, they have great pasta dishes with a delicious (and oversized) fettucini carbonara. I once ordered pizza para llevar and it was surprisingly good. They also make nice strong drinks. Ciaociao |

Try the garlic bread along with your entree. It's excellent |

It is one of my favorites, but I must tell you that for several trips to CR I could not find Cafe Mundo. It has no sign and looks like a nice house on the corner. Glad I know where it is now. |

Agree, nice atmosphere also. A question to those that has being to Café Mundo. One of my favoritas commented that it looks like it is a gay restaurant. I can see that the main hostess is gay but my gay-radar did not really go off for the rest of the patrons, then again I was concentrating on the chica. Anybody’s gay-radar going off? Not that it make a difference to me, just passing a comment. BTW – the shrimp salad and the filet mignon are great. |

BTW – the shrimp salad and the filet mignon are great. No its not a gay restaurant, patrons are normal upscale ticas/ticos in general and maybe 10% gringo tourists.....good mix |

My gay radar didn't go off last time I was there. My date was a 29 year old nympho nurse who only tricks if she is short on mortgage money. We were chatting in Spanish and the stupid gringo eco tourists at the next table had no clue that I was a monger with my 'date'. I can't describe the rest of the evening within the pure confines of the restaurant section ![]() |

Took the Novia there one night on this last trip. We've eaten there a few times. Both of us had the Tortelini Carbonara. Pretty good food there but I did notice that several of the other diners looked like sausage lovers. |

The owners, some waiters and some clients are gay. The food, atmosphere and location are great. Be careful and walk to the SL to go to the bathroom. There have been several reports of gays sexually assaulting middle aged gringos in the bathrooms there. BKTUNA I am never going home |

YO Mundo: It's a wonder that the dog that roams the place hasn't gotten run over out in the street.....or is he still a fixture in the place? I love dogs but that little shit about two years ago was peeing on my foot while I ate on the patio. To make it worse....I was wearing sandals. Waiters being gay does not bother me. Not saying you may have been given bad information BK but I just can't imagine the manager would let gays groping men in the restroom remain a problem. If it ever happens to old Circus.....I going to demand cien. At least it would pay my bar tab at Idems. |
