Two Years ago we ate one regular basis at a great place called "sodas Peru". They served an excellent battered Sea Bass with rice, beans, vegitables. They also had homemade french cut pototoes.

Damn it was good. we ate there so much that the owners got sick of us.
(i admit it...americans can be annoying at times to the locals)

Are they still there?

My favorite seafood lunch place in SJ!

This might help.

The name of the place is actually Soda Delicious de Peru. Their sea bass with seafood sauce (corvina con salsa de mariscos) is outstanding! By the way, don't miss the delicious chicken dishes as well. Service is above par for San Jose; the folks who own and run the place are friendly, patient and just plain good people...if you managed to annoy them, I'm glad I wasn't dining at an adjacent table at the time. Ah, you ugly Americans...pissing off the locals. :P

Well said, El Ciego.

I've ate lunch at Soda Peru the past 4 days. I had some fantastic meals. I ran into RBC100 at Soda Peru and he gave me some good advice on what to order...........Thanks RBC!

Their fried calamari is also outstanding. You can watch them hand bread fresh calamari from where you sit in the dining room. Then they cook it just right, tender, and flavorful and not rubbery like some places.

I ate lunch there yesterday so I gues "the rumor of their demise has been greatly exagerated". By the way, the sopa de mariscos is as good as ever.

Ate there 2 weeks ago. Good food; good prices; and a nice senora waiting on us.

There is also a Columbian Soda right around the corner from Zona Blue. I can't remember the name, but I don't think it's Peru, because I don't remember seeing any seafood on the menu. I just remember they had the best milinesa and arroz con pollo that I have ever had. It's a real tiny place, 3 or maybe 4 tables, open front. I remember Squirrle88 ordered some kind of soda that they didn't have (it wasn't coca cola) and the girl ran accross the street and bought one from the store.
